[01] US President - Cyprus - Greek anniversary
Washington, Mar 24 (CNA) -- US President George Bush has stressed that his
administration "fully supports the UN Secretary-General's efforts to bring
peace and prosperity to all Cypriots."
Addressing Greek community leaders in Washington, on the occasion of the
anniversary of the Greek Revolution (25 March 1821) against the Ottoman
Empire, the US President said he is "committed to a just and lasting
settlement of the Cyprus dispute".

EMBARGOED 1700 (GMT 1500) Nicosia, Mar 24 (CNA) -- Greece reiterated its
unwavering support for Cyprus in the effort to find a just and lasting
settlement of the protracted Cyprus question and the Republic's bid to join
the European Union, sending a message of optimism for the future.
In a message on Greek national day (25 Marcgh 1821), commemorating freedom
from Ottoman rule, Greek Ambassador in Nicosia Christos Panagopoulos said
the EU accession prospects have altered radically the state of affairs and
called on the Turkish Cypriots to seize the opportunity and benefit from
European integration.
