[01] Cyprus Finance Minister - Washington - Meetings
Washington, Mar 17 (CNA) – Cyprus Finance Minister Takis Klerides has
underlined the government's will to combat money laundering, including
claims regarding Yugoslav companies based on the island, and described the
Republic's legal framework on the issue as dynamic in meetings with
American officials.
Klerides, who is on a visit to the US, met in Washington over the last two
days with Federal Reserve Bank representatives, Senators and other
officials of the government, business and economic world, whom he also
briefed on the economy and Cyprus' bid to join the European Union.

[02] EPP Deputies - Paphos air base
Paphos, Mar 18 (CNA) – Two deputies of the European People's Party (EPP)
Security and Defence Committee today visited the air base constructed in
the western town of Paphos, which Cyprus has offered for use by the
European Union Rapid Reaction Force, where they were briefed by army
officers on its operation.
"The base is the Cyprus Republic's most important contribution to the Rapid
Reaction Force now being created," right-wing DISY international relations
secretary Manthos Mavrommatis told reporters after the briefing.
