  • [01] President Clerides - Ambassador of Mali - Credentials Nicosia, Feb 6 (CNA) - The Greek Cypriot side on the island is not prepared to accept a settlement of the Cyprus problem which would be contrary to relevant UN resolutions, violate international law, disregard the human rights of the people of Cyprus and legalise the results of the 1974 Turkish invasion and occupation of the northern part of the Republic, Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides said here today, accepting the credentials of the new Ambassador of the Republic of Mali Mahamadou Diagouraga. On his part, Diagouraga noted that the people and the government of Mali are aware of the "sad division" of the island and observe with great interest and a lot of sympathy "the commendable efforts you are constantly making to reach a comprehensive settlement of the issue, thus fulfilling the ambitions of the peoples that love peace and justice".
