[01] Cyprus Foreign Minister - Italian Under-Secretary of State
Nicosia, Jan 19 (CNA) -- Italy's Under-Secretary of State for Foreign
Affairs Umberto Ranieri today expressed the conviction "that there are the
conditions to try to solve the Cyprus question and to move in accordance
with the process of the UN in reaching this goal."
The Italian official was speaking after talks here with Foreign Minister
Ioannis Kasoulides, who said that in the framework of discussions on
bilateral issues they decided "to begin consultations in order to explore
ways of cooperation in facing the issue of illegal trafficking of human
beings and illegal immigration."

[03] Cuban Foreign Minister - Arrival - Statement
Larnaca, Jan 19 (CNA) -- Foreign Minister of Cuba Felipe Perez Roque
arrived here today for a three-day official visit at the invitation of his
Cypriot counterpart Ioannis Kasoulides.
"We will examine the status of bilateral relations, cooperation between the
two countries," Roque said on his arrival at Larnaca Airport, describing
relations between the two countries as "very good" and "historical".

[04] Minister of Commerce - AOSIS Workshop - Conclusions
Nicosia, Jan 20 (CNA) -- The Cyprus government, being very sensitive to
environmental issues, has proceeded with the adoption of all necessary
measures in order to minimise and, where possible, prevent environmental
degradation, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Nicos Rolandis said
today in his closing remarks to the Workshop of the Alliance of Small
Island States (AOSIS) held in Nicosia.
The conclusions adopted at the end of the five-day workshop describe energy
and sustainable development as key issues and underline that a concerted
effort is needed at all levels of government, the private sector, society
and the international community in order to achieve a sustainable future.

[05] President Clerides - French Senator - EU - Cyprus question
Nicosia, Jan 19 (CNA) -- French Senator Louis Le Pensec has said that
Cyprus may hope for his country's support when it is ready for accession to
the European Union (EU) and said the Republic has made very positive
efforts in the harmonisation process with the acquis communautaire, which
opend in 1998.
Speaking to the press, through an interpreter, after calling on President
of the Republic Glafcos Clerides, Le Pensec also said France and Europe
back the UN Secretary-General's efforts to solve the political problem in
Cyprus.

[06] President Clerides - House President - Cuban Foreign Minister
Nicosia, Jan 19 (CNA) -- Foreign Minister of Cuba Felipe Perez Roque has
conveyed to President Glafcos Clerides his country's wish to further
enhance relations and said he has thanked the Cypriot President for the
Republic's stance towards Cuba in the UN.
Roque, who arrived here today for a three-day official visit at the
