[01] House of Representatives - Cyprus problem - Debate
Nicosia, Oct 21 (CNA) - The House of Representatives convened today to
discuss the Cyprus problem, in view of visits to the island by foreign
envoys and the fifth round of UN- led proximity talks, aimed at substantive
dialogue for a comprehensive settlement in Cyprus, divided since 1974, when
Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third.
House of Representatives Presidents, Spyros Kyprianou, stressed the need
for the National Council, advisory body to the President of the Republic
comprising parliamentary parties, to discuss developments with the Greek
government and review the common policy, noting that Greece has
responsibilities regarding Cyprus.
