[01] Russian President - Cyprus Independence
Nicosia, Oct 3 (CNA) - President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin,
has sent a congratulatory message to President Glafcos Clerides, for the
40th anniversary of the Independence of Cyprus, reassuring that Russian
diplomacy focuses on "a just, comprehensive solution in Cyprus", based on
UN resolutions and international law principles.
Putin notes with satisfaction that "diplomatic relations between our
countries were established simultaneously with the independence of the
Cyprus people" and that "the experience of our constructive and equal
cooperation is proof that the friendship between the peoples of Russia and
Cyprus is based on a tradition going back centuries".

[02] Greece - Cyprus - Defence Ministers
by Iacovos Tsangaris Athens, Oct 3 (CNA) - The Defence Ministers of Greece
and Cyprus, Akis Tsohatzopoulos and Socrates Hasikos, have expressed
identity of views that there could be no solution to the Cyprus problem
outside the framework of the UN resolutions.
The two Ministers met last night in Athens, where Hasikos will today visit
the "Defendory 2000" exhibition of military equipment.

[03] PA OSCE - Expanded Bureau - Cyprus delegation
by Riana Magidou Limassol, Oct 3 (CNA) - MP Marcos Kyprianou, said that
Cyprus, as a banking centre, is facing certain dangers related to money
laundering, but not to the extent foreign media present it.
Kyprianou, who heads the Cyprus delegation at the meeting of the Expanded
Bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organisation for Security and
Cooperation in Europe, taking place in Limassol, told CNA that 80 MPs from
various OSCE member states are currently in Cyprus to participate in the
session, as well as a seminar on "organised crime and corruption", to be
held on the sidelines of the session.
