A third person is wanted. CNA/MA/RG2000 1720:CYPPRESS:04[04] Cyprus - Turkish occupied areas - Art smugglersLondon, Jul 24 (CNA) - A report in today's "Times" notes that the Turkish occupied areas of the Republic of Cyprus have "long been regarded as a favourite route for art smugglers" and points out that a stolen handwritten 11th century Koran was to be smuggled into Britain through those areas.The report says that the gold-embroidered manuscript was stolen last year from the Topkapi Palace Museum in Constantinople, Turkey, and was taken to the areas in Cyprus under Turkish occupation, from where a contact was made with Christies of London to inquire whether they could buy the item.
