[01] European Socialists - Meeting

Movement Vasos Lyssarides, in Oporto where he attended a meeting of the
European Socialist leaders, said he was pleased with discussions he has had
on the Cyprus question and the Republic's European Union accession course.
"The Europeans have repeatedly told Ankara that if it really wants to get
closer to Europe, it should realise that it cannot ignore the
recommendations relating to respect for human rights, the rights of the
minorities, the Cyprus issue and its relations with its neighbours,"
Lyssarides told CNA in Oporto after Sunday's working dinner.
