    [01] Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister - Cyprus

    Nicosia, Apr 19 (CNA) -- Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohsen Aminzadeh, met today in Nicosia with House of Representatives President, Spyros Kyprianou, and the Permanent Secretary of the Foreign Ministry, Andreas Pirishis.

    Aminzadeh, who is on a three-day visit to the island, will be received tomorrow by President Glafcos Clerides and will have a meeting with Foreign Minister, Ioannis Kasoulides, followed by official talks at the Ministry with Pirishis.

    [02] Turkish Cypriot politician - London - Meeting

    London, Apr 19 (CNA) - Turkish Cypriot politician Ozker Ozgur has urged Greek and Turkish Cypriots to organise meetings abroad amongst themselves, in order to send the message that they can unite their forces for the reunification of their homeland.

    Ozgur, a high-ranking member of the Turkish Cypriot Patriotic Unity Movement, was speaking at a gathering organised last night in London by Greek Cypriot left-wing AKEL party, in memory of Greek Cypriot Costas Mishaoulis and Turkish Cypriot Dervis Kavazoglu, who were murdered while travelling in a car in 1963 by the Turkish Cypriot terrorist organisation, TMT.

    [05] Foreign Minister - Michael Dukakis

    Nicosia, Apr, 19 (CNA) -- Developments in the Cyprus problem and the situation in the region were discussed here today at a meeting between Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides and former Governor of Massachusetts, USA, Michael Dukakis.

    Speaking after the meeting, Kasoulides said he and Dukakis examined broader issues concerning the region and ways of assisting efforts to find a solution to the Cyprus problem.

    [06] Europe - Poll - Enlargement - Cyprus

    Brussels, Apr, 19 (CNA) -- Cyprus ranks fourth in the preferences of European citizens for accession to the European Union while the same poll, conducted in last Autumn, puts Turkey last on the list.

    According to 43% of the sample, Cyprus should join the EU while 33% is set against it.

    [07] EU - Cyprus - Parliaments - Meeting

    Nicosia, Apr 19 (CNA) -- The 10th Meeting of the President of the European Parliament (EP) with the Presidents of the Parliaments of the countries participating in the European Union (EU) enlargement process will take place in Cyprus next Autumn.

    This was decided today after the conclusion of the two-day 9th Meeting which ended today in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
