[02] President Clerides - Cyprus peace effort - Interview
by Emilia Christofi New York, Apr 8 (CNA) -- Cyprus President Glafcos
Clerides stressed that if Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash is willing
to negotiate within the parametres set out by the UN for a bizonal,
bicommunal federation then the Cyprus peace talks will progress.
In an interview with CNA Clerides said however that it appears Denktash is
not ready for such a move, as the preconditions he had set for the
recognition of his illegal regime in the areas of Cyprus occupied by Turkey
since 1974 have become conditions.

[03] Cyprus Foreign Ministry - British "Red Arrows"
Nicosia, Apr 8 (CNA) -- The British Royal Air Force "Red Arrows" will no
longer fly over residential areas of Cyprus, due to the dangers they may
pose for citizens, a Foreign Ministry
statement reads.
"Taking into consideration the dangers the flights by the British aircraft
known as 'Red Arrows' may pose for citizens, the Foreign Ministry has made
the necessary moves towards the British side
and an understanding has been achieved to avoid such flights over
residential areas," the statement says.
