[01] British UN soldier dead
Nicosia, Mar 15 (CNA) - A British soldier serving with the UN Peace-
keeping force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) was shot dead with his own weapon here
today, the UNFICYP press office confirmed. The identity of the soldier,
serving at a UN observation post in the Ayios Kasianos area in the old part
of Nicosia, has not yet been made known. The UN is investigating whether
the soldier shot himself or if another person used his fidle to shoot him.
