Nicosia, Mar 13 (CNA) - Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides expressed the
government's sincere appreciation to the Commonwealth for the support it
offers Cyprus in efforts to find a just and viable solution to its problem.
In a statement on the occasion of today's Commonwealth Day, President
Clerides said he is certain the organisation will continue providing its
support to the just cause of the people of Cyprus.

Nicosia, Mar 13 (CNA) - President Glafcos Clerides today received British
Special Representative for Cyprus Sir David Hannay.
No statements were made after the one-hour working breakfast. However,
sources said that discussions focused on the procedure followed during the
UN-led proximity talks and that Sir David would visit Turkey after his
talks on the island.

[03] President Clerides - Paris - Departure
Larnaca, Mar 13 (CNA) - President Glafcos Clerides said today that talks on
the Cyprus question should focus on the substance of the problem or they
cannot go on, adding that foreign envoys agree that the talks should be
upgraded. Speaking at Larnaca Airport, before his departure to Paris
for a four-day working visit, President Clerides referred to his working
breakfast this morning with British Special Representative for Cyprus, Sir
David Hannay, saying that "we discussed upgrading the talks to be held in
May 23" in New York.
