Nicosia, Feb 3(CNA) - The UN Security Council will deal with the Cyprus
problem on February 15.
This was announced yesterday by Fernando Petrella, Permanent
Representative of Argentina to the UN and current Security Council
President.

[02] US humanitarian groups - US President
Nicosia, Feb 3 (CNA) - Twenty prominent human rights organisations in the
United States have urged US President Bill Clinton to support a Cyprus
settlement "along the lines presented in UN resolutions and supported by
the United States and oth er nat ions."
In a letter to President Clinton, the organisations also called on him
to "make the settlement of the Cyprus dispute a high foreign policy
priority during your last year in office."

Geneva, Feb 3(CNA) - The issue of security was examined today at a
meeting here between Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides and UN Secretary-
General's Special Adviser on Cyprus, Alvaro de Soto held within the
framework of the UN-led proximity talks currently underway.
Clerides said they had a "very useful" a meeting, which lasted one and
a half hours. He said "we discussed an issue which we discussed in the New
York talks, the issue of security".

[04] AKEL leader - German PDS Chairman
Nicosia, Feb 3 (CNA) -- Chairman of the German Party of Democratic
Socialism (PDS) Lothar Bisky has said it is time for the Cyprus question to
be solved.
Bisky, who was speaking to the press after a meeting here today with
left-wing AKEL General Secretary Dimitris Christofias, said "we have many
common opinions" with the Cypriot party leader.
