    Nicosia, Jan 30 (CNA) - Greek Americans that will participate in the International Coordinating Committee Justice for Cyprus (PSEKA) conference to be held in May, will meet senior US administration officials as well as leaders from both the Se nate a nd the House.

    "With the third and most crucial round of UN Cyprus settlement talks targeted for June, our meetings with America's top policy-makers just weeks before can have a significant impact," PSEKA and Pancyprian Association of America President, Philip Chr istopher has said.

    [02] Australian opposition leader - Cyprus problem

    Nicosia, Jan 30 (CNA) - South Australia opposition leader Mike Rann has said that appeasing Turkey over European Union membership will not work unless promises are matched by actions and urged for a tougher stance towards Ankara.

    He called on the government of his country to assist Cypriots who were forced to flee their homes after the 1974 Turkish invasion of the island and are now Australian citizens to take the Turkish government to the European Court of Human Rights.

    [03] Environmentalists - Conference

    Nicosia, Jan 30 (CNA) - The Cyprus government intends to spend over 600 million pounds (1 CY pound is about 2 US dollars) over the next decade for projects to protect the environment, Defence Minister, Acting Agriculture, Natural Resources an d Envi ronment Minister Socrates Hasikos, said today in an address to the 3rd Conference of the Ecologists and Environmentalists Movement, on behalf of President Glafcos Clerides.

    The Movement, according to its spokesman George Perdikis, intends to contest next year's parliamentary elections autonomously.

    [04] President Clerides - Geneva - Meetings By Maria Myles

    Geneva, Jan 30 (CNA) - Only a few hours before the start of the second round of Cyprus peace talks in Geneva, President Glafcos Clerides sent a message to Turkish Cypriots that it is time for a settlement on the island through a genuine effor t and direct talks.

    The Cyprus President refrained from replying to questions on the substance of the UN-led talks or the procedure to be followed, abiding by a news blackout requested by the UN.
