Nicosia, Jan 24 (CNA) - Cyprus' efforts to implement the acquis
communautaire in its bid to join the European Union (EU) will come under
scrutiny this week by a 12-member delegation of the European Commission's
Accession Negotiations Team for Cyprus , led by negotiator Leopold Maurer.
The Austrian EU official arrives here tomorrow with a view to prepare
the chapters to be opened for negotiation under the current Portuguese
presidency and record the progress achieved to date towards harmonisation
with the EU.
