by Demetris Apokis Washington, Sep 28 (CNA) -Ä US Assistant Secretary for

European and Canadian Affairs Marc Grossman has said that in his meeting with the Turkish Premier today the US President will

reiterate that progress on a Cyprus settlement should be made quickly as the conditions to work on it are as good as they have

been in a long time. Grossman repeated Washington's support to a statement by the

G8 (group of seven most industrialised countries of the world plus Russia), of which it is a member, calling for unconditional talks

on the Cyprus question this autumn.
