[01] Attorney General - Missing
Nicosia, Sep 18 (CNA) -- A working team, set up to monitor developments in
the humanitarian issue of missing persons in Cyprus, has decided to send
written material to overseas ministers, deputies and politicians in a bid
to better inform them about the issue, team chairman Attorney General
Alecos Markides has said.
He said the material will also refer to a report by the European
Commission of Human Rights of the Council of Europe on Cyprus' fourth inter-
state case against Turkey for human rights violations.

Athens, Sep 18 (CNA) -- Cyprus and Greece laid down the basis to further
strengthen ties in the framework of a joint defence pact, agreed between
the two countries in 1993, providing for sea, air and land cover for Cyprus
in the event of a fresh Turkish offensive.
The respective defence ministers said enhanced defence cooperation
does not obstruct the promotion of regional peace and added that defence
policy cannot be influenced by junctures.
