1230:CYPPRESS:01[01] Clerides - ReturnNicosia, Aug 8 (CNA) -- Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides said he will not deal with plans to reshuffle his government before November.Speaking upon his return last night from the Greek island of Rhodes where he was on holiday, Clerides said that during this time he will not deal with any issue. The President pointed out that he will not hold any contacts on the Cyprus problem during this time of the year because August is considered both by the UN and various governments as a "dead period." The President said he will resume his holiday for another week once his yacht which ran into trouble between Kastelorizo and Rhodes on Thursday, is back from repair. Cyprus has been divided since 1974 when Turkish troops invaded and occupied 37 per cent of the island's territory. The UN Secretary-General is expected to invite the leaders of the two communities in Cyprus to negotiations in the fall of 1999. He explained that the average daily volume of transactions for 1998 was 1,4 million Cyprus pounds where the average for the month of July 1999 reached 20 million. Papadopoulos said that with the re-opening of the Cyprus bourse on August 16, all interest parties will have settled any pending work. The Cyprus bourse also shut for two days last month to allow brokers sift through months of unprocessed paperwork. (One Cyprus pound trades at 1,8 US dollars.) CNA EC/RM/1999ENDS, CYPRUS NEWS AGENCY1400:CYPPRESS:03[03] Turkish Cypriots - Kokkina enclavePaphos, Aug 8 (CNA) -- More than 800 Turkish Cyriots travelled to the north- western Turkish held enclave of Kokkina today to hold a ceremony commemorating their compatriots who died in intercommunal conflict in August 1964.In 1964 the Turkish Air Force bombed Greek Cypriot targets around a Turkish Cypriot enclave in the region, in the most serious incident to occur since intercommunal strife broke out. A convoy of 40 buses crossed from the Limnitis checkpoint and entered Kokkina through the Mansoura post in the north-western coast. Once in the free areas, the Turkish Cypriots were accompanied by UN Peacekeepers. Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash attended the ceremony after arriving in Kokkina by helicopter. Kokkina is an enclave some three miles west of the areas occupied by Turkey since its troops invaded Cyprus in 1974, occupying 37 per cent of the island's territory. Turkish Cypriots have access to Kokkina by air or sea, but today they travelled through the government controlled areas of the Republic after this was made possible through the cooperation of UNFICYP and the Cyprus government's Service for Humanitarian Affairs.
