    [01] President Clerides - Late King Hassan

    Nicosia, Jul 28 (CNA) -- Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides has praised the King Hassan II of Morocco, who passed away last week, for his contribution to the Middle East peace process.

    President Clerides today signed a book of condolences at the Moroccan Consulate in Nicosia.

    Speaking to the press President Clerides said King Hassan was a "prominent political personality of the Arab world who had contributed substantially" in creating the right climate for the peaceful resolution of problems in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question.

    [02] Ship - Rescue operation

    Nicosia, Jul, 28 (CNA) -- The ship "Rofayda", under Hondouras flag, was sinking 22 nautical miles off the southeastern coast of Larnaca.

    Six crew members were rescued while two are missing. A rescue operation is under way.

    "Rofayda" sailed from Limassol port last night and was spotted today by the tanker ship "Sienna", while it was sinking.

    Eight crew members were on board the "Rofayda", seven of which are from Egypt and one from Sudan.

    Six crew members were rescued and brought aboard the "Sienna". Two are missing.
