1140:CYPPRESS:01[01] Minister of Trade - Libya - RelationsNicosia, May 22 (CNA) -- Minister of Trade, Industry and Tourism Nicos Rolandis today left for Libya where he will have talks in a bid to strengthen economic relations between Cyprus and Libya.Rolandis is heading a delegation of officials from his Ministry, the Foreign Ministry and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The delegation, which is visiting Libya at the invitation of the country's government, will return to Cyprus on Wednesday. Speaking to the Press on his departure, Rolandis said he will convey a message from the President, Glafcos Clerides, to the Libyan leader Muammar El-Qaddafi. He said he will have talks with a number of Libyan Ministers in a bid to strengthen trade relations between the two countries. The issue of a Cyprus - Libya intergovernmental committee to deal with economic and other issues of mutual interest, will also be discussed. Rolandis said Libya was "a very good trade partner for Cyprus in the past", and added that with the lifting of the embargo on Libya, efforts will be made to revitalise and strengthen bilateral trade relations. CNA MAN/GG/MCH/1999ENDS, CYPRUS NEWS AGENCY1225:CYPPRESS:02[02] President Clerides - Patriarch PetrosNicosia, May 22 (CNA) -- The Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa Petros was received today by President Glafcos Clerides who pledged the government's moral and material assistance to the Patriarchate.Speaking after the meeting, Petros said they discussed the difficulties faced by the Orthodox Church of Alexandria due to the decreasing Greek community in Egypt. The Patriarch also expressed sympathy "to the pain of Yugoslavia" and added, "we are praying for a solution to the problem". After the meeting Patriarch Petros went to the Archbishopric where a prayer was held at the Saint John Cathedral. Tomorrow, Archbishop Chrysostomos will bestow Patriarch Petros with the medal of Apostle Barnabas, founder of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus. During his stay on the island the Patriarch will visit a number of Bishoprics and monasteries. He will leave Cyprus on May 28.
