    [01] House President - Iran

Nicosia, May 17 (CNA) -- A visit by Cyprus House President, Spyros Kyprianou, to Iran could open the way for enhanced bilateral relations and cooperation on a wider spectrum.

"One could say that our official visit to Iran will pave the way for broader cooperation in all fields, political, cultural and commercial," Kyprianou said on his way to Teheran.

Speaking at Larnaca airport, he noted that bilateral ties have improved and added "our objective is to further develop these ties, which are very important, especially for Cyprus."

Kyprianou, heading a four-member parliamentary delegation, is visiting Iran at the invitation of Islamic Consultative Assembly President Ali Akbar Nateq Nouri.

This is the first official visit by a Cyprus parliamentary delegation to Teheran.

The Cypriot MPs return home Wednesday.
