1045:CYPPRESS:01[01] Fire - FactoryNicosia, Apr 25 (CNA) -- A fire raged out of control at a dairy factory outside the capital Nicosia Sunday.The fire broke out around 8.30 am (5.30 GMT) at the "Pittas" dairy factory in the industrial area of Latsia, a Nicosia suburb. A thick cloud billowed over the area and Police warned nearby residents to close their windows because of toxic fumes. Police also advised drivers to avoid using the old Nicosia - Larnaca road which leads to the Latsia industrial area. So far the cause of the fire remains unknown. Cyprus and Greece will also sign an appropriate activity programme to implement the Cooperation agreement. During his visit, Anomeritis will be received by President Glafcos Clerides. He will also hold separate meetings with the Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church, Archbishop Chrysostomos, the President of the House of Representatives, Spyros Kyprianou, the head of the Cyprus delegation at the accession talks with the EU, George Vassiliou, and other officials. CNA EC/RG/1999ENDS, CYPRUS NEWS AGENCY1410:CYPPRESS:03[03] Fire - Factory - Under control - DamageNicosia, Apr 25 (CNA) -- A fire at a dairy factory outside the capital Nicosia Sunday morning was under control after causing 10 million CYP (around 20 million US dollars) worth of damage.Police told CNA that a security guard was the sole employee at the "Pittas" dairy factory in the industrial area of Latsia, a Nicosia suburb, when the fire broke out around 08.30 am (05.30 GMT) after a loud explosion was heard. The factory, which produced one fourth of the island's milk products, was also exporting its products to a number of countries. Commerce, Industry and Tourism Minister, Nicos Rolandis, who visited the scene, told reporters that measures will be taken to avoid repercussions on the island's milk industry.
