0930:CYPPRESS:01[01] Cyprus - Eurovision Song ContestNicosia, Feb 10 (CNA) -- Cyprus will be represented in the 44th Eurovision Song Contest to take place in Jerusalem on May 29, 1999, with the song titled "It'll be love".The Cyprus song was chosen among nine entries which reached the final stage of the Cyprus Song Contest, organised by the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC), which was held at a night club in the southern port- town Limassol. Singer Marlen Angelidou was the winner. She received 225 points followed by the song "I'll give you all my life" sung by Demos Beke with 178 points. Third was the song "Maria" sung by Yiorgos Stamataris, who received 143 points. A total of 23 countries will participate in this year's Eurovision Song Contest in Jerusalem. CNA GP/1999ENDS, CYPRUS NEWS AGENCY1330:CYPPRESS:02[02] Norwegian Deputy FM - MeetingsNicosia, Feb 10 (CNA) -- Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides received here today Norwegian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aslaug Haga.After the Presidential Palace meeting the Norwegian official had talks with the island's Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides. No statements were made after the two meetings. She also visited the cease-fire line in the walled-city, accompanied by Nicosia Mayor, Lellos Demetriades. Yesterday, Haga crossed into the Turkish-occupied northern part of Cyprus where she had a meeting with Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash. During her talks on the island, the Norwegian official focused on efforts to resume contacts between the Greek and Turkish Cypriot communities separated since the 1974 Turkish invasion. Denktash has repeatedly blocked rapprochement efforts between the two communities. Haga leaves this afternoon after paying a four-day visit to Cyprus.
