[01] Vietnam - New Cyprus ambassador
Nicosia, Nov 17 (CNA) -- Vietnam firmly supports the legitimate government
of Cyprus, its President Tram Duc Luong assured Cyprus' High Commissioner
in New Delhi, Rhea Yiordamli, during the presentation of her credentials as
the new Cyprus ambassador to Vietnam today.
He reminded that Vietnam was one of the first countries to give the
Cyprus government such support and expressed satisfaction with the stable
friendship between the two countries and their cooperation in international
forums.
Luong also expressed the wish for the further strengthening of
bilateral relations.
On her part, Yiordamli referred to the common experiences Cyprus and
Vietnam had during their liberation struggles and briefed the Vietnamese
President on the Cyprus government's wish for a just solution to Cyprus'
political problem, based on UN resolutions.
During her stay in Hanhoi, Yiordamli will meet the Ministers of
Foreign Affairs, Trade, Culture and Information of Vietnam and other
officials.
