    [01] Defence Minister - Greece

    Larnaca, Oct 04 (CNA) -- Defence Minister, Yiannakis Omirou departed today for Athens to attend an arms fair, at the invitation of his Greek counterpart, Akis Tsohatzopoulos.

    "Defendory" arms fair is under the auspices of the Greek Defence Ministry.

    Speaking shortly before his departure, Omirou said during his stay in Greece he will have the chance to visit the Greek arms industry and meet with Defence Ministers from different countries.

    Asked whether he will also meet with his Russian counterpart to discuss further strengthening of bilateral relations, Omirou said relations with Russia "are very good at all levels".

    He also pointed to a military agreement between the two countries since 1996.

    Omirou will return to Cyprus on Thursday.
