1200:CYPPRESS:01[01] Anastasiades - Moscow - IPULarnaca, Sep 5 (CNA) -- A Turkish Cypriot demand to establish a confederation in Cyprus with two sovereign and equal states will be denounced by Cypriot deputies at a meeting of the Interparliamentary Union (IPU) in Moscow, head of the Cypriot delegation to the meeting Nicos Anastasiades said here today.Speaking on departure, Anastasiades, leader of the ruling Democratic Rally party, said "we will have the opportunity to inform deputies from other countries about the intransigent positions outlined by Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash." This, he said, would give the correct picture about the situation on the island, divided since 1974 when Turkish troops invaded its northern part. Anastasiades said the five-member Cypriot delegation will participate in discussions of the Socialdemocratic and Non-aligned groups and brief the IPU Monitoring Committee on Cyprus about the latest developments. He said the IPU will deal with the political, economic and social world situation, the action that needs to be taken this year on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights and the management of water resources. The House Secretary General Costakis Christoforou, also in Moscow, will attend a meeting of the Association of Parliamentary Secretaries General. The Cypriot delegation consists of Doros Theodorou, Andreas Filippou, Stathis Kittis and Androulla Vasiliou.
