[01] Cypriots in London protest against continuing occupation
London, Jul 20 (CNA) -- The federation of Greek Cypriots
living in Britain has protested outside the Turkish Embassy in
London against the continuing occupation by Turkey of 37 per
cent of Cyprus' territory.
Protestors gathered outside the Turkish Embassy in central
London, holding pickets and chanting slogans against the 1974
Turkish invasion, demanding the withdrawal of Turkish troops and
settlers, re-unification of the island and justice for Cyprus.
Representatives of the federation handed to the head of the
Embassy's police guard a petition condemning the invasion and
continuing occupation of Cyprus and asking for the withdrawal of
occupation troops from the island, the return of refugees to
their homes and the determination of the fate of the missing
persons as a result of the invasion.
