[01] PRELIMINARY PARLIAMENTARY ELECTION RESULTS

The Left Bloc is followed by the Coalition 'Zajedno' ('Together') with 17 seats, the Serbian Radical Party with 11 seats, the Alliance of Vojvodina's Hungarians with 3 seats and the Coalition 'Vojvodina' with 2 seats, the Commission told reporters.

In Montenegro, the Democratic Party of Socialists has secured 7 seats in three Constituencies, followed by the National Party with 4 seats.

About 84% of the ballots have been counted so far and according to incomplete data, the turnout of voters was 63%, member of the Commission and Director of the Yugoslav Statistics Bureau Milovan Zivkovic said. The turnout of voters in Serbia was 62.91% and 65.50% in Montenegro.

President of the Commission Rajko Nisavic said no protests had been lodged with the Commission by Tuesday noon, saying the deadline by which Electoral Commissions in all 36 Constituencies were to submit results expired on Wednesday. More complete returns will be released on Wednesday, Nisavic said.

[02] OFFICIAL RESULTS OF PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS IN MONTENEGRO

Commission chairman Marko Dakic told the Press that there had been 300,818 votes cast, i.e. 67.10% of the electorate had voted. Of this number, 7,741 ballots were irregular, and the DPS received somewhat more than 150,000 or 51.23% of the regular votes, thus winning 45 seats in the Montenegrin Parliament.

The Opposition 'National Unity' Coalition of the Liberal Alliance and the National Party won close to 75,000 votes and 19 seats in the 71-seat body, Dakic added.

[03] YUGOSLAV DEPUTY FOREIGN MINISTER RECEIVES CHINESE FOREIGN MINISTRY DELEGATION

The Chinese Delegation is in Belgrade for political consultations at the Federal Foreign Ministry. Exchanged were views on bilateral relations between Yugoslavia and China and on possibilities for their further promotion. Cooperation between the two countries in the international sphere, was also discussed.

[04] YUGOSLAVIA AND GREECE SIGNED AN INTER-STATE PROTOCOL

The document, signed by the two states' Development and Science Ministry officials, envisages continuation and deepening of bilateral cooperation in science and technology, exchange of know-how and joint research.

Yugoslav Assistant Minister of development, science and the environment Vera Lapcevic-Petkovic, who signed the document for Yugoslavia, said that agreement had been reached about the verification of eight major research projects. The projects are in the fields of bio-technical sciences, medicine, physics, agriculture and meteorology, she added.

Greek Ministry officials said they were willing and interested in including Yugoslav researchers in projects being realised by Greece in cooperation with the European Union.

[05] STATEMENT OF THE PRESIDENCY OF BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA

A statement issued at the end of this, fifth, Session of the three-member Presidency says only that talks would continue at the next Session.

The joint Ministerial Council will comprise five Ministers and a Chairman.

The Presidency discussed a report drawn up by Foreign Minister Jadranko Prlic on staffing the Foreign Ministry, the Embassies and the Consulates of Bosnia-Herzegovina, and exchanged views on a preliminary basis on assigning various posts in line with the Constitution.

The Presidency also discussed the preparations for the forthcoming International Conference on Bosnia to be held on November 14. in Paris and entrusted the Working Group created earlier to prepare for its next Session a draft joint Platform for the Conference.

The Presidency expressed concern at the illegal evictions in both Bosnian Entities, the Muslim-Croat Federation and Republika Srpska, and urged competent authorities to take firm measures against such incidents.

The Presidency appointed three members of a Working Group (a Muslim, Serb and Croat) to draw up Bosnia's draft 1997 budget.

The Presidency pointed to the frequent use of incorrect names for Bosnia-Herzegovina and its two Entities and requested that all authorities use the appropriate terms - Bosnia-Herzegovina, Muslim-Croat Federation and Republika Srpska, the statement says.

[06] KRAJISNIK REQUESTS RELEASE OF SERB PRISONERS

In a letter addressed to the other two Presidency members Alija Izetbegovic (Muslim) and Kresimir Zubak (Croat) and to the Assistant International High Representative for Bosnia Mikhail Steiner, Krajisnik recalls that in line with the Dayton Agreement, both Bosnian Entities were committed to release all prisoners of war by January 19, 1996. This has not happened, and there have even been more arrests of Republika Srpska citizens crossing the territory of the Muslim-Croat Federation, Krajisnik wrote.

No one has yet been called to account for illegal arrests of Republika Srpska citizens violating the Dayton Agreement provisions on the freedom of movement, Krajisnik concluded in his letter.

[07] CROATIAN STATE AND SERBIAN CHURCH DISCUSS PROMOTION OF TIES

The Delegation met also with ranking clergy of the Catholic Church in Croatia.

According to a statement issued by the Croatian Presidential Cabinet, the Delegation of the Serbian Orthodox Church comprised Metropolitan Jovan of Zagreb and Ljubljana and Bishop Sava of the Sumadija region.
