[01] ITALY TO OPEN GENERAL CONSULATE IN MONTENEGROR o m e, Sept. 16 (Tanjug) - Italy will open a General Consulate in Montenegro, the Italian Foreign Ministry said on Monday adding that the Consulate would be located in the Adriatic port of Bar, Southern Montenegro. The decision is in keeping with the recent talks between Italian Foreign Minister Lamberto Dini and his Yugoslav Counterpart Milan Milutinovic and Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic, the Italian Foreign Ministry said in a statement. This act fulfils the demands of the business community of Montenegro and Italy's Province of Puglio for the opening of a General Consulate in Montenegro due to the negative effects on the two countries' trade and tourism caused after Italy decided to introduce visas for Yugoslav citizens on May 31, 1996. The citizens of Yugoslavia from Montenegro have until now been forced to travel to Belgrade to obtain Italian visas. Dini confirmed that, until the necessary procedure for opening a General Consulate in Bar is completed, it is possible that a representative of the Italian Embassy in Belgrade will travel to Montenegro to facilitate the visa issuing. The Italian Foreign Ministry also said that another decision is to reduce the number of documents necessary for obtaining an Italian visa, but no details about this were given. Frowick told reporters that the OSCE had hoped it would be able to publish the results late on Monday, but that this was clearly not possible because returns were coming in slower than expected. Frowick said that he had read the final report by the Head of the International Observer Team about the course of the elections and that their views were very similar.
