BELGRADE - His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Mr. Pavle will receive this evening the Order of the St. apostle Andrej Prvozvan which would be handed to him by President of the St. Andrej Prvozvan foundation Aleksandar Meljnik - SRNA has learned at the Patriarchate of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Belgrade. The order represents a sign of recognition for a hard Sheppard's work of His Holiness and credits for well-being of the orthodox faith and people.

LONDON - Journalist of the British daily "Evening Standard" pointed to sameness of symbols by which Croats celebrate their sporting successes with symbols of Fascist regime of the first independent republic of Croatia. British journalists reminds that the independent republic of Croatia allied to Nazi Germany "enthusiastically embraced Hitler's plan for Europe, killing 700,000 of its Jewish, Roman and Serb citizens in the Jasenovac concentration camp". At the end he warns that success as a sporting nation can only encourage the nationalists and racists in Croatia.

SRPSKO GORAZDE - Thanks to the first sponsor contract with the humanitarian organisation "The International Salvation Committee" , newly formed Association of women "Elizabeth Right" from Srpsko Gorazde moved into new premises in Terazije. The association has plans to organise minor and middle production programmes for employment of socially endangered people and development of cooperation with similar nongovernmental organisations.

BANJALUKA - The President of Republika Srpska (RS), Biljana Plavsic, held talks in Banjaluka with the UN Special Representative for Human Rights, Jiri Dienstbier, about the return of refugees and displaced persons to the RS and the B&H Federation. "We also talked about property rights and the law on the Ombudsman and many other issues which are significant for the RS", Dienstbier said after the meeting. According to him, it is necessary to develop freedom of opinion and cooperation between people because, as he put it, they represent the conditions for stability in B&H and for economic investment in the RS and FB&H.

BANJALUKA - A spokesman for the RS Ministry of Internal Affairs, Dusko Tuzlancic, stated at a press-conference in Banjaluka that an attempt was made on the life of the chief of the MUP police administration, Ljubisa Savic - Mauzer, this morning in Bijeljina. "At about four o'clock this morning two people attempted to attach an explosive device to Savic's official car in front of his house but, most probably as a result of clumsy handling, the device exploded as a result of which these two people were killed and Ljubisa Savic's car was completely destroyed", Tuzlancic said. In the interests of the investigation, Tuzlancic did not wish to announce the names of the dead men.

SARAJEVO - The vice-president of the RS Government and Minister for Veterans' Affairs, victims of war and labour, Tihomir Gligoric, opened a two day working meeting in the hotel "Bistrica" on Jahorina of the secretaries of the District Councils' Secretariats responsible for veterans' issues and victims of war. He stressed that the aim of the seminar is to review the problems involved in implementing the law on veterans' rights and the law on civilian victims of war. "We are showing particular concern for these categories of the population because they gave the most for the RS and because they should have priority in the resolving of their problems, especially those families which are left without breadwinners", Gligoric stressed.

BANJALUKA - The Serbian Party for Krajina and Posavina (SSKiP) strongly condemned yesterday's ban on the entry of the staff and functionaries of the City Committee of the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) of Banjaluka into the party premises in Banski dvor, assessing that move as a flagrant of the law. In the statement issued by the party in connection with this it was assessed "as a flagrant example of the violation of the law". "If the official authorities are behaving in this illegal manner, we ask where this Government is leading us", the text states.

BANJALUKA - The RS Social-Liberal Party (SLS) will be running independently in the forthcoming elections in the RS and in Cantons 1 and 10 in the FB&H because the Coalition for the Homeland which, besides the SLS, is made up of the RS Socialist Party, the Party for Drvar and the Serbian Peasant Party, has collapsed. "The Coalition has collapsed because its members could not reach an agreement on a common list", Miodrag Zivanovic, the SLS President, explained at a press-conference in Banjaluka.

BANJALUKA - Ulrika Kiergesser, representative of the Labour Humanitarian Association of Germany, presented in Banjaluka the programme of this humanitarian organisation for assistance to the western part of the RS whose value amounts to 1.7 million German marks. The assistance which has been provided by the German Government should be directed to refugees in the Banjaluka area and consists of food, clothing, footwear, medicine, stoves, wool and hygienic articles. According to her, the Labour Humanitarian Association of Germany has plans to help in the reconstruction of the water supply infrastructure throughout the RS.

BANJALUKA - Claus Benneman, spokesperson for the European Union Monitoring Mission, stated that the main aim of this mission is to report on the political, military, economic, and humanitarian situation in this region as well as respect for human rights. "All of our reports from this region are collected together in the Centre in Sarajevo from where they go to Brussels and then to all the capital cities of Europe which are members of the EU. Then, from Brussels we receive recommendations and orders which represent the essence of the discussions held by the main European politicians", Benneman said.

DOBOJ - Johansson Anders, press-officer of the SFOR Nordic- Polish brigade HQ, judged that the training of the de-mining teams at the centre in Tuzla is going according to plan and very successfully. At a press-conference in Doboj, he announced that the results of the training will be known on Tuesday, July 14th, when teams from the RS and FB&H will go out into the field and give a practical demonstration of the degree of their knowledge and skill.

DOBOJ - Mike Chandler, UN officer for civil issues, announced in Doboj that more than 2,000 vehicles a week cross the IEBL between the RS and the FB&H in both directions which points to the positive influence of the new license plates on freedom of movement in B&H. At a press-conference, Chandler stated that more than 400 vehicles cross daily in both directions at Usce, south of Doboj, which is 25% more than before when vehicles had the entity license plates.

PODGORICA - Her Royal Highness Princess Jelisaveta Karadjordjevic travelled to Podgorica on a four-day visit to Montenegro where at a press-conference she thanked once more the RS President, Biljana Plavsic, for her RS citizenship, stating that it is a great honour for her that, after so many years of wandering throughout the world, she is once again a citizen of her fatherland and that is, as she said, the RS. The visit of Her Royal Highness is of a humanitarian nature and so she will visit hospitals in Podgorica, Risan and Herceg Novi.

MOSTAR - Vladimir Soljic, FB&H vice-president, stated that, without the return of Croats, Sarajevo cannot be considered the capital city and, similarly, without the return of Croats to central Bosnia, nothing will come of the FB&H, Croatian Radio of Herceg Bosna reports. Expressing his dissatisfaction with the realisation of the conclusions of the Sarajevo Declaration according to which 20,000 expelled persons of non-Muslim nationality are supposed to return to the Federal part of Sarajevo, Soljic cited the fact that during the first six months 2,510 refugees have returned to this city of whom only 806 are Croats and Serbs.

SARAJEVO - The B&H Council of Ministers adopted the decision that the B&H budget must start to operate from June 1st in 1998 and assets for it to be paid in the Budget central account which is already opened. Discussing the implementation of the Law on Fulfilment of the Budget the B&H Council of Ministers concluded that all its users should open their accounts as soon as possible.

BANJALUKA - The Managing Board of the Public Institution Culture Center Banski dvor did not bring charges against the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) because in that case it would mean to bring charges against all users of these premises" - said at a press-conference in Banjaluka director of the centre Vida Grandic. Emphasising that leadership of Banski dvor suggested that all premises should be moved out on the benefit of culture what is its purpose, and for residential premises to stay for a while as such, Vida Grandic said that she was surprised when she heard the news that the premises formerly used by the SDS were given to the President of the RS National Assembly.

BANJALUKA - The City Committee of the SDS of Banjaluka forwarded an open letter to the President of the RS Government Milorad Dodik in which he assesses that the act of preventing officials of the SDS to enter their premises in Banski dvor is "violation of freedom of political work". "The announcement from your Cabinet in the connection with illegal preventing of the SDS officials to use their premises represents an attempt of justifying of that act in front of the RS citizens", is said in the letter, read at a press-conference by vice-president of the SDS City Committee, Mirko Banjac.

BANJALUKA - The vice-president of the RS Serbian Renewal Movement Ostoja Knezevic said in Banjaluka that the last statement of the former chief of campaign of that party Dragan Beric was made in order to discredit the SNS and the Sloga Coalition. Knezevic added that according to membership records of the SNS City organisation Beric is not a member of this party what his statement makes unfounded.

BIJELJINA - The RS Internal Affairs Ministry confirmed that in front of the building number 26 in the street of Porucnika Smajica in Bijeljina, ownership of Ljubisa Savic two persons attached an explosive device under the car of the MUP, with registration number 105-A-505. The car was completely destroyed and on the left side close to the car they found two man bodies who apparently died during attaching of an explosive.

DOBOJ - UN press officer from Tuzla Andre Agneli denied Muslim media in Doboj that members of the Serbian police from Doboj have participated in prostitution and manipulation with women from the former Soviet Union. At a press-conference he said that a journalist of Radio-Tesanj incorrectly issued the news about alleged involvement of the RS police in the prostitution.

SARAJEVO - The OHR spokesman Simon Haselock said that the International Community High Representative Carlos Westendorp after consultations with the B&H Presidency ratified transitional managing board which would supervise reorganisation of the B&H television in accordance with the Memorandum on Understanding, signed last month. At a press-conference in Sarajevo Haselock said that the High Representative appointed nine members of the transitional board for the reconstruction of the B&H television and in further consultations he will appoint two members more and they must be women.

MOSTAR - The OSCE started an investigation in order to check whether the former members of the Croatian Democratic Community (HDZ) were victims of threats because they wanted to become members of the Bosnian Croats party - stated Renata Hermans, the OSCE spokesperson. "They brought charges in which they claim that they are the victims of provocation after they stated that they intend to leave the HDZ" - said Mrs. Hermans.

BELGRADE - The Documentation-Informative centre warned the international organisations in Belgrade that Croatia did not respect the international law standards in the court procedures against Serbs and it implemented double measures in determination of war crimes. Croatian judiciary sentenced eight Serbs from the village of Stikovo near Drnis to a 117-year prison term for alleged war crime of "burning and robbing of Croatian houses". The verdicts were reached without valid proofs.

BELGRADE - Spokesman for the Serbia Socialist Party (SPS) Ivica Dacic repeated the stance of his party that there will not be any talks or negotiations with the ethnic Albanian terrorists and warned that those who are in contact with them "are making big mistake". "The SPS does not accept pressures and attempts of imposing of solutions and such elements unfortunately have been shown in the statement of the Contact Group. It is not any support to the dialogue and peaceful solving of the problem in Kosmet", Dacic said.

NEW YORK - The Contact Group will ask from the UN Security Council to prevent, with a resolution, financing of the terroristic organisation the "Kosovo Liberation Army" with donations from abroad. Political directors of six countries, members of the Contact Group for the first time yesterday called on countries to take measures and to prevent the OVK to collect money from ethnic Albanians who live abroad.

STOCKHOLM - Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs Lena Yelm-

Valen asked from the police to establish whether so called voluntary tax which is being collected by ethnic Albanian in Sweden is intended for financing and purchasing of arms for the OVK terrorists - "Tages Nicheter" reports. "It must not be allowed because it is against the international law. We will do everything that nothing goes for these purposes. It is our answer on all information we have got that in some countries financial help is being collected for ethnic Albanian terrorists" - said Mrs. Yelm-Valen.

BANJALUKA - Delegation of the Government of Republika Srpska (RS) headed by the RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik was in a twoday working visit to the Siemens concern in Erlangen where they signed an agreement on financing of significant projects in RS - the RS Ministry of Health and Social Care announced. Dodik signed the general contract with Siemens on credit with very favourable conditions valued at 15 millions of DM for equipping of the RS Clinical Center and other health institutions.

BANJALUKA - The UN Special Representative for Human Rights Jiri Dienstbier held talks in Banjaluka with representatives of the Association of Serbs refugees from Krajina and Croatia about possibilities for implementation of human rights guaranteed by the international conventions. "Serbs refugees from Croatia since 1991 and Krajina since 1995, have not achieved basic human rights as the right on personal documents and personal property along with the right to vote in RS and Croatia", President of the Association Pero Dzodan said.

BANJALUKA - The RS Socialist Party (SP RS) in the public announcement emphasises that moving out of the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) from the Banski dvor in Banjaluka "must not be connected in any way to the SPRS". The SP RS thinks that explanation of this problem, related to the President of the RS National Assembly is " realy tendetious".

SARAJEVO - The EU and the U.S. American agency for the International Development stopped all programmes of help for renewal of the Federal part of Sarajevo because they do not implement the Agreement on return of non- Muslim refugees in the city - confirmed the OHR spokesman Simon Haselock. These decisions were made by exclusively these two institutions but the High Representative for B&H Carlos Westendorp supports totally this procedure - the Croatian Radio Herceg Bosna reports.

PRISTINA - Two ethnic Albanians have been killed and one injured this morning at about 2:30a.m. near the Cafa Prusit border barracks, south of Djakovia, in their while attempt to bring illegally into Yugoslavia arms - Media Centre from Pristina reported citing the FRY Army. The three ethnic Albanians were called to put down their arms and answered with fire on what border guards answered also with fire.

SKOPLJE - Germany and BJRM have identical stances on the Kosmet crisis and think that it must be solved in a peaceful manner - stated Macedonia Minister of Foreign Affairs Blagoje Handzinski at a press-conference in Skoplje after talks with German Foreign Affairs Minister Claus Kinkel. According to Handzinski BJRM was always supporting peaceful solution for the Kosmet crisis.

NEW YORK - The UN Secretary General spokesperson Fred Ekhart confirmed for SRNA that the UN was felt better when Croatia lost the football game with Croatia on the World Cup in France. "Yes, the UN was felt better because the UNHCR expressed fear that that kind of celebration might brought tragedies like there were in Mostar and Stolac after victory against Germany", Ekhart said.
