NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BELGRADE - A meeting between President of the Republika Srpska (RS) National Assembly Dragan Kalinic and President of the Association of Serbs from B&H, due to be held yesterday, has been postponed. Bogdan Jamedzija was to present to Kalinic a documentation on consequences of the NATO bombing in RS, and possibilities for mass return of refugees from FRY to B&H. The reason for this postponement is a death in the Jamedzija family.

SIPOVO - At the meeting between the Sipovo Executive Board and the international humanitarian organisations, operating in the region of the Sipovo Municipality, there was a misunderstanding concerning selection of users of help for renewal of damaged and destroyed houses. According to President of the Executive Board Milo Bosnjak representatives of the Municipal authorities forwarded critics to the humanitarian organisations that on the lists were those people who had got the help already. The Executive Board thinks that the advantage should be given to families of killed soldiers and disabled veterans.

PODGORICA - Tomorrow in Montenegro 423,837 citizens on 1,087 polling stations will vote for representatives in Republic and Municipal Assemblies. These voters will be able to decide for one among 17 election lists of political parties or coalitions. The first unofficial results, the Republic Election Commission will issue on Monday , June 1.

WASHINGTON - Prime Minister of self-proclaimed Government of Albanians from Kosovo Bujar Bukosi said in Washington that "war on Kosovo already began and that must be conceived by the U.S. politicians." "The U.S. President should publicly or in diplomatic way warn the FRY President Slobodan Milosevic with sanctions i.e. with ban on foreign investments", said Bukosi.

BANJALUKA - The Republika Srpska (RS) delegation headed by the RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik will start a two-day visit to Serb municipalities in Podrinje - Visegrad, Rudo, Rogatica, Srpsko Gorazde, Cajnice, Sokolac and Vlasenica - Cabinet of the RS Prime Minister announced.

ROME - The International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved a US $ 81 million loan, of which 32 millions will be immediately available - Italian agency ANSA from Washington reports. This decision had to be made last week but was delayed because of problems about liquidation of the B-H National Bank.

AMSTERDAM - A decision made by NATO regarding Kosovo crisis aims an increase of pressure on Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic, in order to give Albanians higher degree of autonomy - Dutch media reports. These are the sharpest measures that NATO could decide on, since its members Great Britain, Spain, Italy and Greece especially, denied every possibility of military intervention in Serbia. These four countries insist that under the Law NATO troops have no right to enter territory of a sovereign country.

PARIS - The U.S. President Bill Clinton encouraged the Kosovo Albanians leader Ibrahim Rugova to continue dialogue with representatives of Serb authorities in order to divert B-H-type tragedy, writes "Liberation". The paper says that 28 neutral Eastern European countries, among which Russia, held a meeting of support to NATO in its attempt at peaceful stopping the crisis in Kosovo and Metohija.

MOSCOW - Russian Foreign Affairs Minister Evgeny Primakov stated that under certain circumstances, Moscow would support NATO deployment in Albania with a view to curb-up Kosovo crisis, Reuters reports. "This kind of action should not be taken without previous consent of the UN Security Council" - stated Primakov for "Nezavisimaja Gazeta". Sometimes it can be heard that the West does not want to pose this question to the Security Council, because Russia might block solution of the problem" - said Primakov. "Our reaction in the Security Council will depend on whether suggested measures will suit the moment" - said Primakov.

HAMBURG - Commentator of German liberal paper "Unsere Zeit" George Humphrey thinks that the West, under on the pretext of alleged human rights observance in Kosovo and Metohija - which neither exist, nor it is honoured else where - ignores biding international-law contracts and current international regulations, and imposes laws of the jungle against the weaker. The paper warns of contradictory stances of the Contact Group, which "on one hand opposes the secession of Kosovo, and on the other hand condemns exercise of power on the part of the Serb police with attempts to " defeat Albanians terroristic groups". "This kind of behaviour seriously encourages Albanian secessionists in provoking armed clashes, the responsibility for which they expect to be brne by the Serbs", says the commentator.

SKOPLJE - Tetovo's University in Albanian language has been working regularly for four years, although Macedonia authorities reject it as illegal. Around 300 young Albanians will graduate at this "institution". According to a rector of this "University" , Fadilj Sulejmany, fore-fold number of students enrolment is expected for the next year.

ISLAMABAD - Pakistani Foreign Affairs Minister, Gohar Ajub Kahn, confirmed that Pakistan conducted two more nuclear probes in Balucistan - reports Reuters. Kahn confirmed that nuclear heads were detonated in the region of Cagai. Asked whether nuclear probes were conducted Kahn said "yes, with Lord's grace".

MOSTAR - Governor of the Hercegovina-Neretva canton, Zeljko Obradovic, said that in the Muslim-controlled parts of the Canton no single Croat turned back. In his statement for Croatian Radio Herceg Bosnia, Obradovic said that in Konjic there are now less than 1,000 Croats, out of 1,700 living in Konjic during 1993 Muslim-Croat war.

BELGRADE - President of the FRY Commission on help to refugees in realization of their election rights in B&H, Buba Morina, called in Belgrade all persons older than 17 years of age, to register from June 1 to 27, in order for them to have a right to participate in the general elections in B-H in September. "The FRY Commission and the OSCE office in Belgrade have finished with all preparations for successful voters registration" - stated in Belgrade Morina at the meeting with the international supervisors and members of registration teams.

BELGRADE - The general staff of the FRY Army (VJ) informative service stated that during securing of the national border with Albania, in border barracks Morina, in the Djakovica Municipality, two soldiers have been killed and three have been injured. "During regular activities of the VRS units, which are operating on the national border, yesterday around 5:30p.m. a sergeant Dragan Ignjatovic, born on March 23, in 1972, in Leskovac and a soldier Vojkan Matic, born on October 21, in 1977, in Aleksinac have been killed", VJ reports. A terroristic mine caused their death, the VJ reports.

BANJALUKA - The Republika Srpska (RS) President Biljana Plavsic is again elected President of the Serb People's Union (SPU). At the Second Election Assembly of the SPU Ostoja Knezevic from Banjaluka, Svetozar Mihajlovic from Bijeljina and Milorad Vujovic from Bileca were elected vice-presidents. The RS President submitted expose in which she emphasised that the SPU was founded in difficult times for RS in order to prevent its division, increased corruption, crime and isolation and to offer brighter future to Serb people in these regions.

BANJALUKA - The RS Minister of Information Rajko Vasic said that joint information system in B-H was not possible, because according to the Dayton Peace Accord informing was under entities jurisdiction. Rejecting numerous speculations on a united information network, Vasic said that his opinion was confirmed by the OHR. Since the B-H TV was accepted in the European Television Union he said that Ministry of Information asked for the same status for SRT. That it is the minimum of their requests.

PRNJAVOR - Presidency of the RS Veterans Association made a decision in Prnjavor, on a request to be sent to the National Assembly for all legal records to be in accordance with the Law on Veterans Rights. They asked for the Government to help to the suspected of alleged war crimes and their families. "We are afraid that results of our fight and RS were being jeopardised, for many other things are being favored and little attention was paid to Serb soldiers" - said President of the Veterans Association Borislav Bojic, adding that Presidency was discussing imposing of new methods in fight for veterans rights.

DRVAR - A Mayor of Drvar Mile Marceta stated that a session of the Drvar Municipal Assembly has been interrupted because the Croatian Democratic Community (HDZ) representatives did not agree with propositions of the Coalition for Drvar, for incidents in that town to be condemned as well as culprits of the event, for multiethnic police to be established and members of the Croatian Defence Council (HVO) to leave the town. According to Marceta, the HDZ representatives suggested only two items of the agenda, and one of them was for new Deputy Mayor to be elected.
