APRIL 18, 1998 DAY

NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

SARAJEVO - The President of the Republika Srpska (RS) National Assembly Legislative Commission and a Mayor of Srpsko Sarajevo Mirko Sarovic assessed in Pale that the new OSCE election regulations for RS and FB&H "are disastrous for all parties in RS", because they "lead toward its gradual finish". Sarovic reminded that "the Dayton Peace Accord regulations prescribe that elections in September in B&H will be held exclusively organised by entities and under jurisdiction of entities.

SARAJEVO - Municipal Organisation of the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) Srpska Ilidza concluded yesterday at the Annual Assembly that "preserving of the RS identity and integrity is a priority, and in order for RS to maintain, there is a need for membership of SDS to be strengthen for the next parliamentary elections".

AMSTERDAM - Holland is not going to invest any more in the RS economic development, stated for SRNA in Amsterdam the Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Smelenbrook, adding that Holland Government thinks that "a new political structure in RS does not make enough effort on implementation of the Dayton Peace Accord". "Holland is the biggest European and fourth world donor in a programme of reconstruction and rebuilding of B&H and will continue to finance only projects in FB&H", said Smalenbrook.

PODGORICA - The President of Montenegro Milo Djukanovic forwarded to metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Coast greetings regarding forthcoming Christian holiday, the Resurrection, wishing that "this holiday will bring joy and happiness in all orthodox homes in Montenegro".

VIENNA - A secretary in the Austrian Foreign Affairs Ministry Albert Rohan will try to persuade the FRY Foreign Affairs Minister Zivadin Jovanovic to approve a permanent foreign mediating in Kosovo and Metohija. He is due to visit FRY next week.

APRIL 18, 1998 DAY

BELGRADE - The Republika Srpska (RS) President Biljana Plavsic stated that "the pressure by the FRY President Slobodan Milosevic against the RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik to replace some of current Ministers and to take into the Government some men from the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) and Serbian Radical Party (SRS) is not going to work". "It is a bad business because everyone who has something to do with it does not wish well to RS or to its people", said Biljana Plavsic in an interview with the Belgrade's Radio B-92.

BELGRADE - The President in the B&H Presidency from RS Momcilo Krajisnik denied statements that SDS and SRS wanted to replace the Government and took over the control. In an interview with the Radio B-92 he said that the SDS and SRS had a goal that with criticising put the pressure on the RS Government in order for the Goverment to "stop making bad moves".

BELGRADE - His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Mr. Pavle will serve tomorrow on the Christian holiday, the Resurrection, a holy liturgy in a Church of Vavedenje in Topcider, is said from the Serbian Orthodox Church Patriarchy.

TREBINJE - Regarding Christian holiday, the Resurrection, head of the Orthodox Cathedral in Trebinje the archimandrite Grigorije forwarded greetings to all orthodox citizens wishing for the Resurrection to be blessed for all Serbian people.

BRCKO - Two and a half years after the Peace Accord was signed a progress was registered in Brcko in all fields except for the economic renewal - is said in the newest issue of the Brcko Municipal Assembly paper "Brcanski pogledi". The paper says that a Supervisor Robert Farrand acknowledged that himself promising a bigger financial help to the city. Donor's conference was organised regarding that issue and return of almost 5, 000 Muslim and Croats in the region of Brcko.

AMSTERDAM - The international negotiators are paying great attention to the return of Serbs in Drvar, because eventual failure of this process could confirm the idea that the joint life in B&H is not possible any more, is said in the report of the International Crisis Group (ICG). "In that case it might happen that the international community give up the Annex 7 of the Dayton Peace Accord", is said in the report. "Return of Serbs in Drvar represents an initial link on a chain of the whole reintegration process", is also said in the report.

SKOPLJE - The paramilitary formation " Black eagle", composed only of the Albanians from Kosovo, for three days now collect information and investigate in the Northeast part of Albania for the so called "The Liberation Army of Kosovo", close to the Yugoslav border, is said in the Albanian paper "Gazeta Sciptare".

APRIL 18, 1998 EVENING

NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

SARAJEVO - The International Committee for truth about Karadzic issued an public announcement signed by dr. Ljiljana Zelen-Karadzic. SRNA conveys from this announcement: "The international Committee for truth is determine not to allow partial campaigns against dr. Radovan Karadzic, who is unable to speak for himself, and not to leave without answer a numerous improper declarations of important persons. A reason for this announcement we kindly owe to an exclusive interview of general Jacques Cleine with "Nedeljni telegraf" dated April 15, 1998, but also to inundation of misinformation, which are called by media itself a hysteria.

PRIJEDOR - The Deputy High Representative for Civil Affairs Hans Schumacher asked for the Prijedor Municipal Assembly representatives in cooperation with International Group for Return and Reconstruction to clearly define locations for immediate return of refugees and displaced persons. At a press-conference Schumacher said that "return of refugees must start with no delay", and recommended to the Prijedor Municipal Assembly leadership to accept areas of Hambarin, Alisici and Kozarac for settling, suggested by the International Group.

BELGRADE - Bosnian Serb Association - returnees to Krajina, condemned a murder of Lela and Vojin Trninic in Drvar emphasising that culprits of this atrocious crime did not care for the peace and realisation of the Dayton Peace Accord. In the statement the Croatian Democratic Community and Croatian authorities are accused of organising frequent burning of houses and preventing of Serbs to come back to their homes.

SARAJEVO - The Serbian Orthodox Church, as well as all orthodox churches and all orthodox believers are celebrating on April 19 the greatest Christian holiday, the Resurrection. His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Mr.. Pavle will serve on April 19 a holy liturgy in the Church of Vavedenje in Topcider in Belgrade. All orthodox churches celebrate the Resurrection as the greatest holiday on the same day no matter of it is a Julian Calendar or the Gregorian calendar.

PRISTINA - In Pristina and other cities of Kosovo Albanians held a mass demonstrations without incidents and police intervantion. Protest file of 2, 000 men in Kosovska Mitrovica was headed by Moslem priests, and the demonstrators were not carrying posters.
