NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA
SARAJEVO - A session of B&H Council of Ministers was not held in Srpsko
Sarajevo because members of Muslim-Croat federation did not come, the co-
presiding of the Council Boro Bosic announced, adding that probably the
reason for this was concern of Moslem and Croat representatives in this
body for their own safety, after kidnapping of Goran Vasic took place.
Emphasising that strong security measures were taken as always, Bosic said
that role of OHR, which has tried to cancel the session, instead to remove
eventual problems, has been especially indicative.
HAMBURG - Respectable German liberal weekly "Freitag" claims that RS, with
the new president of the Government Milorad Dodik at the head, has gained
firm international contours, and the international community "the first
modern politician in B&H, who has been created by the Dayton". However,
thinks "Freitag", that fact will make easier tasks of the international
community just to a certain extent, because in the future it will not be
possible to find for every eventual failure in post-war contradictions in
B&H whipping boys only on Serbian side.
BRCKO - The director of "Luka Brcko (Brcko Port)" Mladen Zonjic testified
before the Arbitration Tribunal for the region of Brcko in Vienna that the
key argument of Muslim-Croat federation about necessity of linking with
Europe through this town was "politicising of the problem, and not reality
in presenting of the truth". "It has been pleasure to take part in work of
the Serbian arbitration team at the highest state level without involving
of party or any other differences. We are all just Serbs and we have told
truth and nothing but the truth, and that is our strongest defence", Zonic
emphasised in a statement for SRNA.
BIJELJINA - By change of status of Brcko RS would be divided into two parts,
which is contrary with the Dayton peace accord and it would not contribute
to calming of tensions in this region, is said in an announcement of RS
Democratic Party, issued after a meeting of party's leadership with deputy
supervisor for the region of Brcko Ian MacClaud. It is emphasised in the
announcement that the meeting has occurred on the invitation of the party's
leadership, who have informed the high international representative about
stances of RS Democratic Party related to the status of Brcko and ongoing
arbitration procedure in this town.
