BANJALUKA - The RS Prime-Minister Milorad Dodik has accepted with pleasure the invitation of the Austrian Ambassador in B&H Valentine Eanks to visit Austria. Eanks has sent this invitation in the name of the Austrian Foreign Affairs Minister Wolfgang Schiessel and Austrian Economic Council to, according to him, promote "better economic relationship between two countries."

BANJALUKA - The RS Union of Syndicates (SS) has forwarded a request to the National Assembly (NA) and the Government for consistent implementation of the Dayton Agreement with insisting on integrity of RS, legitimacy of the Government, unique police, Army, and information system, i.e. everything that one "Republic makes a Republic". The SSRS president Cedo Volas stated in Banjaluka that this organisation would pledge for low limit salary in 1998 to be 100 DM, increased employment and for process of democratisation to start-up regularly.

RUDO - The Presiding of the International Board for Implementation of Local Elections Craig Jones and director of the Regional OSCE Office in Sokolac Rolf van Nue have expressed their pleasure with agreement that was reached by political parties in the Municipality Assembly of Rudo according to which one seat in the Executive Board would belong to the Coalition for the Whole and Democratic B&H. The president of SO Rudo Rato Rajak said that this Municipality " has fulfilled all conditions for getting a work certificate, which would be delivered to it on February 3.

AMSTERDAM - The president of the RS Government Milorad Dodik " is ready in the name of Serbs, to ask for forgiveness from Muslim side for the victims they had in this war," is said in Holland daily newspaper "Folkstrant". From, as it is said, "well informed sources" the paper learns that Dodik " this act of apologising will preform in Srebrenica". "This move of Dodik is not surprising because he has gained this position thanks to Muslim decision to support him unanimously" - writes a commentator of distinguished Holland newspaper and claims that the new Government maintains itself at the head of RS " thanks only to the FRY president Slobodan Milosevic and money from the West."

BELGRADE - Because of special circumstances in RS and the decision for NSRS session to be held on January 31 in Banjaluka, Dragan Kalinic the NSRS president could submit resignation from the post of NSRS president. This information the Belgrade newspaper " Vecernje novosti" has learned unofficially. The paper convey the statement of the High International Counsellor in B&H Sergei Pozdihin who said that the OHR has supported the majority of the NSRS representatives for Assembly's session to be organised in Banjaluka.

SARAJEVO - The representative in House of Representatives of the Parliament in B&H Federation Srecko Vucina expressed protest because of the international community representatives obstinacy who unauthorizedly and illegally impose their solutions to legal and legitimate elected organs in B&H. In a letter to the president and vice-president of B&H Federation Ejup Ganic and Vladimir Soljic, Vucina demands from them, in accordance with their Constitutional rights and responsibilities, to stop decisions of the international community representatives on flag, license plate and other marks because they are as he said " illegal and unauthorised".

BRCKO - The definitive arbitrage decision for Brcko must imply determination according to which the region of this city belongs to RS and the new government will do everything to protect the interest of RS and Brcko in that way - stated RS premier Milord Dodik after the meeting with municipal leadership of Brcko. Stressing that he conveyed to his hosts the stance that new government consider Brcko as the top priority, Dodik announced that at the beginning of the construction season will launch a new building of housing units, in order to secure the adequate accommodation for the citizens of this city. The prime minister did not pay attention on the proposal of ICG to delay the final decision about the status of Brcko for five years, stressing that "the Government has also its own stance".

SARAJEVO - The president in Presidency of B&H from RS Momcilo Krajisnik received in farewell visit the political director of OSCE Vladimir Kuznietsov, the Russian diplomat who before leaving this duty and departure to his homeland wished for all citizens of RS and B&H permanent peace, better life and good health. "The year which I have spent in RS and B&H is important for me, because I have learnt and understood much, and most essential is that I have got to like the people of this country more" - said Kuznietsov.

BIJELJINA - The head of General Staff of RS Army general major Pero Colic stated in Bijeljina that VRS in last year performed its tasks, surmounting all obstacles on its way - political, economic and material. "Most important of all is the fact that the unity of VRS is kept, which is guaranty of survival of Serbian people in this region", stated general Colic, who attended the meeting in the military barracks "Vojvoda Stepa Stepanovic" in Bijeljina at which was analysed the combat readiness of the Third Corps of VRS in 1997.

BANJA LUKA - The Defence Minister in RS Government colonel general Manojlo Milovanovic confirmed in Banja Luka that this ministry "is the first in which, in accordance with operative plan of RS Government, performed taking over the duties." After signing a record on transfer general Manojlo Milovanovic expressed his pleasure because " of this agreement and nobody has not left his position from previous Ministry and that means that complete ministry will go under his command."

BRCKO - The Internal Affairs Minister of RS Milovan Stankovic after the first work meeting with inspectors of the police station in Ugljevik, Lopare, Bijeljina, Brcko, Pelagicevo and Samac which are under jurisdiction of CJB in Brcko announced for the next week forming of a Cabinet and equalising of police uniforms through all region of RS. SRNA unofficially learns that RS police will wear unique uniforms, like uniforms that policemen in Eastern part of RS wears, while uniforms from region of Banjaluka will be worn by cadets.

VLASENICA - The regular session of the RS Constitutional Court which is presided by judge Slobodan Kovac is holding in Vlasenica because the president of the Court is absent because of illness. According to president of Municipal Court in Vlasenica Dragan Golijan session is closed for public it is attended by all members of the Court aside from Mijanovic.

BANJA LUKA - The European Bank showed the readiness to appear more intensively in RS and to support by credits the development of infrastructure, privatisation of enterprises and development of modern management at our regions - stated in Banja Luka the counsellor of president of RS for economic issues Rajko TOmas. According to the first man of the delegation of European Bank Paul Monory, they talked about "development of private sector, as in the field of financial institutions, so in the field of other enterprises". "We have decided to continue our cooperation and dialogue, as well as screening where and to who to give credits" - said Monory.

BANJA LUKA - The city Board of the Serbian Democratic Party /GO SDS/ of BAnja Luka stated that the replacement of the directors of state and public enterprises "could be compared with the killing of dukes" and, although do not bring into question the legality of the new government of Republika Srpska , GO demands that it build its legitimacy on democracy and electoral will of the people. According to UN High Commissioner for Refugees Sadako Ogata , in 1996 and 1997 only 35,000 out of total 400, 000 "minority" refugees and displaced persons returned to their homes, and very difficult task in 1998 will be return of minorities in the region. Ogata stressed that the problem of refugees from B&H could be solved by proclaiming "Open cities", de-mined and equipped with public services, and humanitarian aid.

BANJA LUKA - The Banja Luka tobacco factory will produce the cigarettes for Slovenian market from the reproduction material and according to the newest technology of Tobacco industry "Tobacna" from Ljubljana - is precisely stated by the signed contract in Banja Luka about the business-technical and licence cooperation of these two enterprises. By the contract is anticipated that the Factory of tobacco from Banja Luka on the first month of cooperation send on the Slovenian market 10 tones of cigarettes and to increase shipments every month.
