NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJA LUKA - The vice-president of Republika Srpska /RS/ and the rector of the Banja Luka's university Dragoljub Mirjanic and minister of Health Mirko Sosic on the occasion of 19 years of existence and work of the Medicine Faculty in Banja Luka received the dean of this institution Ljiljana Hotic - Covickovic. Reception at the vice-president of Republika was also attended by the guests from Belgrade's and Novi Sad's university and experts from the Military Medicine Academy /MMA/ from Belgrade and Orthopaedic Clinic in Banjica, whom he acquainted with the work and network of faculties of Banja Luka University.

BELGRADE - His Hilliness Serbian patriarch Mr. Pavle, who, because of light cold and regular health control from November 11 is in the hospital "The Saint Sava", feels well and soon should leave this health institution. Because of stay in a hospital patriarch Pavle did not departure to the Sacred Mountain, where he being at the head of delegation of Serbian Orthodox Church /SOC/ should participate in the celebration of eighth centuries of coming of the Saint Simeon Mirotocivi to the monastery Vatoped.

BIJELJINA - During nine months of this year the Financial Police of RS determined in 2.064 controls smaller amount of paid taxes than the total amount which, together with the confiscated articles, amounts 332,169,536 dinars - stated the Treasury minister and director of Financial Police Drago Simic. "In the procedure of control of payments are gained 81,603,000 dinars. When to that amount is added the compensation with RS Government another 120,000,000 dinars, the total percentage of payments amounts 61%" - said Simic.

VLASENICA - Municipal Board /MB/ of the Serbian Democratic Party /SDS/, Serbian Radical Party /SRS/ and Socialistic Party of Republika Srpska /SP RS/ of Vlasenica sent joint appeal to their members and supporters as well as other citizens of the municipality "to behave themselves politely and with dignity towards the pre-electoral campaign material".

ZVORNIK - The president of SPRS Zivko Radisic assessed at the tribune in Zvornik that "the parliamentary elections represent the crucial historical moment from coming out of the political crisis". "The forthcoming elections will in best way show the will of the people" - said Radisic and reminded that the slogan of the pre-electoral programme of SPRS is unique and stable RS in the framework of Dayton Agreement, which enables Republika srpska the high level of independence.

SARAJEVO - The Moslem Ambassador to Zagreb Kasim Trnka assessed as unacceptable the proposals of Croatia about establishing the special relations with Federation B&H /FB&H/, because he thinks that "they interfere with the territorial integrity, political independence and competence of B&H authorities". Trnka especially reproached to Zagreb because of suggested monetary and customs union, as well as because the proposal for establishing free trade zone and joint military command.

BRCKO - The president of SDS Aleksa Buha called the Serbian people to give its confidence at the forthcoming elections to this party, in order to strengthen and afterwards widen the independence of RS. "I hope that Serbian people conceived what does it mean to give its votes to those who are not mature to take over the work for people and state", stressed Buha while talking at the pre-electoral rally of SDS in Brcko. According to him, SDS will come on parliamentary elections because over the country again was cast the danger of division, likewise before municipal elections, and not because it thinks that this parliament is illegal or bad.

ZVORNIK - The president of Republika Srpska /RS/ and president of Serbian People's Union /SNS/ Biljana Plavisc is working for "faster opening of the RS market towards neighbouring countries and for more cooperation with international creditors in order to get for Srpska more significant part of assistance allocated for B&H". Accusing "Serbian Democratic Party /SDS/ and its leaders for double government and crisis in RS", Ms. Plavsic, at the public tribune in Zvornik, admitted that she is "apostate president, but she rejected the policy of SDS, and not the people".

BANJA LUKA - The minister for information of RS Svetlana Siljegovic is content with the number and quality of exhibitors and publishers at the Second Book Fair "Banja Luka '97", because that is "the proof that this people, people of spirit, will survive and overcome all obstacles". "In political crisis and pre-electoral campaign this fair is the oasis of peace and spirit, and if media have forgotten to raise people spiritually, such manifestations like this are the opportunity to correct that", accentuated Mrs. Siljegovic during the visit.

ZAGREB - The U.S. Ambassador to Croatia Peter Galbright stated for Zagreb's "Tjednik" (weekly) that U.S.A. "support the special links between Croatia and Federation B&H /FB&H/, but that can't be based on Washington's agreement on confederation, since it would be contrary to Dayton agreement". Galbright is "against any kind of union between parts of B&H - and FB&H - and neighbouring states. "We dare not permit any monetary or customs union only with one part of B&H, and if the union comprises whole B&H Croatia can find itself through RS in the union with Serbia and Montenegro" - warned the U.S. Ambassador.

SARAJEVO - Judging according to the reports of the federal media, the international intolerance in FB&H is furthermore expressed and present, the incidents are more frequent /even the terroristic bombing attacks are happening/, media war didn't stop, and problems in forming the municipal bodies and fermenting in Cantonal governments became everyday events.
