NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - The President of Republika Srpska (RS) Biljana Plavsic considers that RS Army should participate in the "Train and Equip" programme - stated her's military adviser Ostoja Barasanin and stressed that political and military officials carefully reviews that issue. Participating in last night talkshow on Serbian Radio-Television (SRT), Barasanin remarked that is groundless not to consider that issue, adding that so far there was no international reactions.

BELGRADE - The President of RS Biljana Plavsic stated in the interview for the Belgrade newspaper "DT Magazine" that she will not participate at next presidential elections if the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS), at the forthcoming parliamentary elections wins over 50% of votes. "If SDS at parliamentary elections obtains more than a half of parliamentary seats, i will carefully reconsider my staying at the position of RS President" - emphasised Mrs. Plavsic and expressed hope, that, as she said "the Serbian people will not unreservedly stand up by party which even now in peacetime puts him and RS in opposition toward international community".

MOSTAR - The Head of the Regional Office of High Representative for B&H in Mostar Martin Gerod is disappointed with outcome of the yesterday's meeting of Muslim and Croats representatives, because they fail to agree about returning procedure for persons which are exiled from this town - reports Muslim radio in Sarajevo.

SARAJEVO - Last night NATO restored the SRT programme broadcasting from Banjaluka studio via satellite link paid for by Governments that contribute to NATO-led SFOR - stated for Reuters the diplomats which asked not to be named. Set by a private firm the satellite link will cost Western governments hundreds of thousands of dollars.

SREBRENICA - The OSCE office in Zvornik declared that the constitutive session of the new municipal parliament in Srebrenica would not be held until the end of the year. This was confirmed by the representatives of European Monitoring Mission. The reason for postponing are complains of local parties to Local election commission about irregularities in voters registration and counting of ballots from Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

WASHINGTON - The International Monetary Fund appointed New Zealander Peter Nicholl to head new central bank of B&H. According to Reuters, Peter Nicholl would succeed Serge Robert as governor of central bank.

NEW YORK - The answer on the question why concentration camp Jasenovac was never treated like Auschwitz - is the topic of the two-day International Conference about Jasenovac at New York College "Kingsborrow". The biggest attention was devoted to American Department of Justice representative presentation Eli Rosenbaum who reminded on data which this Department discovered investigating of separate war crimes cases committed in Europe during WW II.

NEW YORK - At yesterday finished International Conference about concentration camp Jasenovac and Holocaust in Yugoslavia from 1941 to 1945 the initiative for creating of the international commission which will found the truth about Jasenovac was launched. At the conference the ad-hoc committee was created. The leaders of the committee are Head of the Department for Historical Science at "Kingsborrow" university, Ph. Bernard Klein and the Head of Belgrade's Museum of victims of WW II genocide Milan Bulajic.

TIRANA - The ethnic Albanian leadership on Kosovo harshly criticised the meeting between the Federal Republic Yugoslavia President Slobodan Milosevic and the Albanian Prime Minister Fatos Nano, which is scheduled for next week.

BANJALUKA - This morning over the Sava bridge near Gradiska 19 buses with approximately 1 000 passengers from Croatia entered in RS. Their came to visit graveyards because of the catholic holiday All Souls' Day.
