NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

NEVESINJE - Prime minister of Republika Srpska (RS) Gojko Klickovic, stated in Nevesinje that following the latest developments in Banjaluka it came "obvious that the open betrayal is at stake". "The RS Government and the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) undertake to overcome the double rule as soon as possible", Klickovic stated, and added that this should happen with a full observance of democratic principles. The RS prime minister expressed his belief that the Serbian people had "strength, willingness, unity and togetherness" for such as endeavour. In Nevesinje Klickovic visited a building site of housing units for refugees; first 20 out of 120 housing units should be built by autumn. He emphasised that both jobs creation and housing must be a guarantee for the survival of the Serbs in the region.

BANJALUKA - The SDS Board for Banjaluka's municipality of Rekavica assessed that more had to be done in order to return all out-institution individuals' acts and obligations within the Constitution and Law, and thus solve agglomerated life and political problems in RS. The member of the RS Government and vicepresident of the SDS for Serbian Lands, Djojo Arsenovic, underlined that its was a "realistic picture which can, unfortunately, lead us to regional divisions and confrontations that would be of no service for the Serbs and RS".

SARAJEVO - By spontaneous gathering yesterday and today, several thousand residents of Brcko, Visegrad, Vlasenica and Rogatica protested forcible takeover of the RS Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) buildings in Banjaluka, and gave their support to the RS MUP, Government and National Assembly.

ZVORNIK - The vice-president of the Socialist Party (SP) for RS, Nedjo Djuric, assessed in Osmaci, near Zvornik, that RS got a high level of autonomy and that the Socialist Party would not allow that individuals, acting though RS institutions, weaken the state threaten its survival. At an election campaign tribune, he said that the ruling SDS must be credited for it enable the Serbs in B-H to create their own state, recognised in Dayton. He expects organisation of parliamentarian and presidential elections in October, "by which RS would be protected from all attacks on its borders and which would create a firm unity in Serb- Serb relations." "There is no Banjaluka without Pale and there is no Pale without Banjaluka", said the SP for RS vice-president.

BANJALUKA - RS president Biljana Plavsic repeated accusations, at a rally in Banjaluka, against her opponents, this time especially attacking the president in the B-H Presidency from RS Momcilo Krajisnik, the minister of information and SRT and "Glas Srpski" chiefs.

BANJALUKA - Immediately before the SRT central news broadcast, the SRT Banjaluka's studio started with its own broadcast, which is regarded as a media coup in all democratic states. A SRT journalist, who did not sign a "list of Banjaluka editors board", Rade Grbic, was definitely denied entrance into Banjaluka's Studio, under an order by Mrs Plavsic and a journalist Marinko Ucur. At the same time the Banski Dvori is freely accessed by one of Muslim political leaders from the B-H Federation, Sejfudin Tokic, who disseminated propaganda material for his political party on the street.

BANJALUKA - Serb Radio-Studio Banjaluka exited the unitary SRT system and now, under control of Biljana Plavsic's followers, started its own programming, this was confirmed to SRNA in the studio. This media coup followed a call of the president of the Coordination Board of Opposition Parties for Support to President Plavsic, Radoslav Brdjanin, on Plavsic's supporters to make a peaceful protest against editorial policy of Serb Radio.

BANJALUKA - The international supervisor for Brcko, Robert Farrand, conceded, during his talks with Brcko authorities, that the Muslim attempt of entry into bordering community of Brod on Friday was an unexpected provocation, and promised that such inroads would not happen anymore. The representative of the RS National Assembly from Brcko, Simo Kojic said that reconstruction of Muslim houses out the zone of separation in Brcko would be probably continued under international monitoring and with new dynamics and arrangements.

BRCKO - Members of 64 refugees families from the Brcko bordering communities of Stari Rasadnik and Brod asked from supervisor Robert Farrand construction of new houses for them if the announced reconstruction of 1, 000 Muslim houses in this area and return of Muslims was implemented. After a meeting with the supervisor, representatives of the communities of Brodusa and Stari RAsadnik, Vaso Bojanic and Mladen Kordic, confirmed that Farrand agreed with the demand.

BRCKO - The Supervisor Office's cards, substituting the RS identity documents, were taken last week by 164 Muslim returnees, out of 1,200 presently living in the zone of separation around Brcko. IPTF spokesperson, Cathy Ladun, explained for SRNA that persons who spent even a single night in the reconstructed houses were regarded returnees, and that the total number was estimated upon presumption that each family numbers four members.

SARAJEVO - The Hague Tribunal wants to "study" tapes confiscated in the Public Security Centre (CJB) and police stations in Banjaluka, expecting that the tapes facilitate dealing with unresolved cases, Reuters reports citing unnamed Western officials. Reuters quotes IPTF representatives that "bags of evidence", including "tapes and the modern tapping equipment" were carried away from the police buildings in Banjaluka.
