NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

SARAJEVO - Discussion in the Constitutional Court of Republika Srpska (RS) on the lawfulness of the order by the RS president dissolving the RS National Assembly and scheduling new parliamentarian elections, entered into late evening, and is expected to be continued on August 14.

BRCKO - The RS accepted the provisions of the Dayton agreement Annex 7 and the Arbitration decision on the Brcko area, so there is no reason that the documents are not issued in this and other places in RS, says RS prime minister, Gojko Klickovic in Brcko. Brcko supervisor, Robert Farrand, ordered validation of the identity cards from the Federation of B-H with a plasticised card issued by the supervisor office for all returnees to the area until, as he put it, RS authorities agreed to issue RS identity cards on date and in place of return.

ZVORNIK - The RS prime minister, Gojko Klickovic visited the municipalities of Sekovici and Osmaci, where he talked with authorities there and the local Red Cross about living conditions in this bordering municipality, which were said to have been extremely difficult. Only 750 among 100,000 residents are employed, which means that the others are on the verge of social poverty.

BANJALUKA - The RS Government delegation, led by minister of agriculture, water management and forestry, Djojo Arsenovic, talked in Boce, near Banjaluka with the local officials on reconstruction of ravaged bordering areas. "This is a comprehensive programme launched by the Government for all war-thorn areas", stated Arsenovic, pointing out that this kind of assistance would be continued.

BANJALUKA - The RS minister for agriculture, water management and forestry, Djojo Arsenovic expressed his pleasure with this year's record agricultural production in RS. Arsenovic said that the wheat crops was satisfactory with 212,000 tones of wheat stored in silos, and that the 1.5 dinners/kg price was acceptable for market.

SARAJEVO - NATO commander in Europe, general Wesley Clark appealed on all war crimes suspects in the former B-H to "voluntarily give up to the Hague Tribunal". "I do not want to speculate now about actions to be undertaken if they fail to do so", stated general Clark at a press conference in Pale.

DOBOJ - SFOR Nordic-Polish Brigade concluded after control of the RS special police unit in Doboj that it operated in accordance with the Dayton provisions on armed forces. Swedish major Made Peterson stated that no undeclared or unpermitted arms or any explosives were discovered in the unit base.

SRBAC - RS instructor for elections, Rade Novakovic, informed the first- named candidates on the lists of candidates and representatives of 11 political parties registered for the local elections about the code of conduct in pre-election and election activities. At a meeting with the Local Electoral Commission in Srbac, Novakovic reminded that all parties are in the phase of the political campaign until the electoral silence, and said that preparations for nomination of 14 electoral boards to be comprised of five members and a president are ongoing.

RUDO - The president of the Local Electoral Commission in Rudo, Zoran Topalovic, stated that out of 36 appeals from residents without proves on their citizenship, the Main OSCE office in sarajevo approved only 18. The representatives of the Serbian Radical Party for Rudo asked for explanations form OSCE for 170 voters who were evaded from the computer voters lists.
