NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

KOZARSKA DUBICA - The premier of Republika Srpska /RS/ Gojko Klickovic opened for traffic the asphalt part of the regional road Kozarska Dubica - Mostanica, one kilometre long, and announced that the Government will approve the loans for one number of enterprises in Dubica, which are significant for the economy of this municipality. The funds for refurbishing the traffic part of road Dubica-Mostanica amounting 200,000 DEM provided the Communal institute in Kozarska Dubica and RS Government, and work were done by "Sloga", civil engineering enterprise from Dubica and "Jedinstvo" from Gradiska. At the meeting in the premises of the Municipal Assembly was agreed that the Government will by its funds support start-up of production in the Factory for production of corn and spinning mill "Dubicanka". Klickovic promised that the Government will financially support the Commercial enterprise "Dubicki robni magazin" in rehabilitation of the Warehouse, and the Structural engineering enterprise "Una" in the activities in the framework of rehabilitation of the housing which were devastated during the war.

BRCKO - If the voting lists were not defined timely , and accepted the requirement of 3,500 citizens of Brcko to vote and to be elected, there will be no elections, because in that way we would loose RS and put the signature at our own suicide", warned the director of the Directorate of the Serbian Democratic Party /SDS/ Vlado Vrkes. He stressed in Brcko that RS "agrees with honest and fair elections in accordance with Dayton agreement, in which was defined the entity RS, but not the "multi- ethnical entity", which was added by Mrs. Albright in Sintra, and the Serbian party has never signed this, and never will do that". Vrkes stressed that "nobody has a right, after three wars and few million of victims, in this century, to push us in the joint state with Moslems and Croats".

SARAJEVO - The co-presiding of the Council of Ministers of B&H Boro Bosic and Haris Silajdzic departured to the three days official visit to Malaysia. Besides the members of the Council, in the delegation are also the businessmen from RS and Federation B&H. The members of the delegation will meet the president of the Malaysia Government Muhamed Mahatir, and the meeting with the domestic businessmen.

SARAJEVO - The president in the Presidency of B&H from RS Momcilo Krajisnik will receive in Pale the commander of SFOR in B&H Eric Shinseki. As expected, one of the topics will be the status of the special police units in B&H.

NIS - The living conditions of 13,500 of refugees in 28 municipalities of the central and Southern Serbia, mainly older than 60 and younger than 16 years, are worse than in another parts of Serbia, and they were brought to the edge of disaster. Having in mind that the Republican Commissioner for refugees from September didn't pay anything for collective accommodation, and there is a danger that the owners of houses call of the hospitality to the refugees. According to the assistant of the Nis Office of the International federation of the associations of Red Cross and semi-cresent Ivana Karadzic, in this region there exist 99 collective centres, out of which many are in the very bad conditions. Non-developed Leskovac economy is not able to satisfy the needs of the domestic population, and especially not the needs of the 2,098 refugees.

BELGRADE - The property of the refugees and expelled Serbs, as well as the citizens of FR Yugoslavia, left in Croatia, and which value is estimated to amount of 4-6 billions of $US, is submitted to the new Croatian laws, although made without Serbs. The legal form for continuation of ethnical cleansing this time personifies the Agency for mediation in the selling of property, formed in accordance with the Agreement on returning the refugees and displaced persons in and out the Srem-Baranja region - report the Belgrade's media.

SREBRENICA - Only 1,800 citizens of Srebrenica submitted the requests for free allocation of shares, and the right to participate in privatisation has around 14,000 of persons. In the last few days the turnout of citizens was increased. According to the assessment of the centres for privatisation, until the end of the deadline, which expires for five days, could be registered total of 3,000 citizens of Srebrenica.

BELGRADE - The Serbian Movement of Renewal /SPO/ thinks that another two conditions were not met for democratic elections in Serbia - deblocade of the state media and call for OSCE monitors to supervise elections, but this party, probably, come out to elections. At the opened part of the session of the Main Board of SPO at which will be brought the decision about this, their leader Vuk Draskovic assessed that "the electoral conditions in Serbia were never better".

BERN - By the agreement between Bern and Belgrade from July this year is foreseen that until September 1 start the return of 12,500 of Albanians from Switzerland into FRY, and the whole process will last mostly three years. Although from 1994, when the return of emigrants was foreseen, more than 9,000 of Albanians requested the asylum, the strict Swiss regulations about foreigners prevented such possibility.

MOSCOW - The patriarch of Moscow and the whole Russia Alexey the Second deems that the U.S. senators and president Bill Klinton persistently try to confront the Russian orthodox church and government. Namely, the president of Russia Boris Yeltzin rejected to sign the law on religions, supported by both houses of parliament and Russian orthodox church, because of what first time while he is in power he came in conflict with the church.

However, after the recent meeting of Yeltzin and the head of the Russian orthodox church Alexey the Second, at which was reached the accordance that the disputable law would be approved, and that the joint commission would decide about the changes, is indicated the solution of the dispute.

MELBOURNE - The Yugoslavian basketball players won the third place at the World Championship of the young representations in Australia, beating Argentina 84:72, while the new winner was the Australia which beat Portorico 88:73. The former world champion - U.S.A. are only on the fifth place. It is interesting that the U.S. players were beaten by Australia and Portorico.
