NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

SARAJEVO - The president of the RS National Assembly, Dragan Kalinic, asked the president of the RS Constitutional Court, Gaso Mijanovic, to inform the National Assembly on whether the RS Government ordered proceeding to determine the constitutionality and legitimacy of RS presidential decisions relating to the suspension of the RS minister of interior Dragan Kijac and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

SARAJEVO - The president of the RS Constitutional Court, Gaso Mijanovic, informed the RS National Assembly president Dragan Kalinic that the Constitutional Court considered proposals by the Government on determination of lawfulness of decisions of RS president Biljana Plavsic and found that the RS Government was entitled, under Article 114 Paragraph 1 of the RS Constitution, to suspend enforcement of regulations it regarded unconstitutional and illegitimate, which also refers to the RS presidential decisions, for the above mentioned Constitutional provision does not provide for its exemption.

SARAJEVO - The first vice-president of the SDS, Aleksa Buha, stated regarding the political crisis in RS that this crisis can be overcome in a democratic manner, even through referendum. "Yet I am fearful that the international community might use Biljana Plavsic as an instrument - against her own will", stated Aleksa Buha.

BANJALUKA - The Democratic Party of Banjaluka and Krajina called upon RS political parties to rise above the present situation and maintain RS.

BANJALUKA - Three National Assembly deputies from the oppositional parties, Predrag Lazarevic from the Party of the Krajina and Posavina, Slavko Zupljanin from the Serbian Patriotic Party, and Ljubisa Savic from the Democratic Patriotic Block, backed RS president Biljana Plavsic in her decision to disband the National Assembly, announcing they would not take part in the work of, as they assessed it, former Assembly.

BEOGRAD - The president of the Democratic Party of Serbia, Vojislav Kostunica, said in his commentary to the present crisis in RS that after all suffering and hardship during the process of creation of RS, such disputes are the least needed for the Serbian people in RS.

BEOGRAD - The Democratic Party (DS) spokesperson Aleksandra Joksimovic, accused Serbia's president Slobodan Milosevic of being the main instigator of the conflicts in RS. "It is clear now that the agreement on special parallel relations between RS and Yugoslavia, was not entered into in order to make stringer linkages of the Serbian people on both sides of the Drina, but merely for signatories' personal benefits."

NOVI SAD - A possibility that the Hague Tribunal secretly indict Alija Izetbegovic, as it did in case of Slavko Dokmanovic, should not be excluded, stated the Hague Tribunal's spokesperson Susan Manuel in Belgrade. "
