NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - The president of Republika Srpska (RS) Biljana Plavsic talked in Banjaluka with the Austrian vice-chancellor and foreign minister, Wolfgang Schisel, about the current political and economic situation in Republika Srpska and the Federation of Bosnia and Hercegovina (FB&H) as well as about the implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement. 'I suggested to the Austrian diplomat that the time has come for the international community to treat both entities equally. This is the only way on which the central institutions in the B&H can start functioning, having in mind that the economic policy, the matters of Central Bank, customs and budget are solved on this level', pointed out President Plavsic after the meeting. The Austrian diplomat promised to inform the European Union Ministerial Council of that the implementation of the Dayton Agreement can be proceeded satisfactorily, but only under a condition that both entities are equally treated.

DOBOJ - A military police detachment of the SFOR Nordic- Poland Brigade based in Sockovac, in the Municipality of Petrovo, threatened amateur radio operators from Doboj with confiscating their radio equipment if they do not leave the Ostrovica area, on Mt. Ozren. An announcement asserts that after they had refused to abandon the area, SFOR military policemen 'surrounded their camp, disturbing the establishing of amateur radio links.

ROME - A great number of the Italian media are broadcasting the High Representative, Carl Bildt's assessment that in the B&H there will be no problems on the political and national scene, but in the field of economy and social policy. 'I regret because the problems in regard to the return of refugees remain unresolved' stated Bildt, who is expected to leave on June 20, after the meeting held with the RS President Biljana Plavsic in Banjaluka yesterday.

BANJALUKA - The head of the National Radical Party 'Nikola Pasic', Dubravko Prstojevic, stated at a press conference in Banjaluka that his party will 'propagandise a monarchy as a form of governmental structure. The monarchy is an integrative factor for all of the South Slavs living in the Balkans'.

BELGRADE - Some 65,000 refugees have been registered so far in the FR of Yugoslavia. The deadline for the voters registration is prolonged to Saturday, June 14, stated the secretary of the Federal Commission for Helping Refugees to Vote at the local elections in the B&H, Vladimir Cucic. 'I am pleased with the turnout', stated Cucic, reminding us that some 88, 000 refugees from Yugoslavia were registered for the last year's elections in B&H.

SREMSKI KARLOVCI - A declaration was adopted at a scientific symposium titled 'The Serbs in Croatia', calling the Republic of Croatia to implement consistently the agreements made with the FR of Yugoslavia on guaranteeing the right to survival of the Serbs in Croatia and the safe return of all the refugees and monasticism of the Serbian Orthodox Church. It is particularly pointed at Croatia's obligation to protect and repair all of the Serb religious, cultural and historic monuments and buildings destroyed in Croatia, while Serbia, as a motherland of the Serbian people, is reminded that her constitutional duty is to constantly take care of the Serbs in Croatia, SRNA relates the declaration in its entirety.
