NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - The president of Republika Srpska (RS) Biljana Plavsic, talked in Banjaluka with high representative for civil affairs Carl Bildt on practical implementation of civilian aspects of the Dayton agreement in the last two and a half months. "We discussed concrete events on the ground, some of which had a positive while others had negative impact", explained president Plavsic after three-hour talks. In her referring to May 1 incident in Brcko, she said "Our police will carry out a detailed investigation into the mentioned event, and I am hopeful this would be the last incident in Brcko", stated the RS president. Bildt assessed today's meeting as "extremely important, which resolved many of problems, while the rest of them are yet to be removed". Others present at the meeting were RS vice-president Dragoljub Mirjanic, minister of interior Dragan Kijac, SFOR commander general William Couch, UN secretary-general's special envoy Kay Aide, supervisor for Brcko Robert Farrand, and IPTF commissary Manfred Zeitner.

BEOGRAD - The Co-chair of the Council of Ministers of B-H, Boro Bosic, expressed his satisfaction with the visit to Washington, "primarily because Republika of Srpska got firm assurances of an equal treatment with the Federation of B-H. Other than that, the Council of Ministers delegation and US administration jointly assessed that the economic recovery at this moment is of a paramount importance for further progress towards peace and implementation of the Dayton agreement", stated Bosic at Belgrade's airport, upon his arrival from Washington.

DOBOJ - Seven World Bank's directors, led by Jean Daniel Gerber, were the first passengers of Tuzla-Doboj railway line, thus marking the establishment of the railway traffic between RS and Federation of B-H, stated RS minister of transport and communications, Nedeljko Lajic, adding that "RS proved that it has an organised railway transport enterprise for transport of passengers and goods and that it disposes of transport infrastructure and carriers". The opening of the Tuzla-Doboj railway stipulated from an agreement between the World Bank and representatives of the railway transport enterprises of RS and B-H Federation.

HAMBURG - German jurisdiction excludes its traditional allies from two world wars - Croats and Muslims - from persecution, contrary to their joint enemy - the Serbs - against whom German judicial force is permanently directed, concludes the German monthly "Konkret". A legal process against a Serb, Ninoslav Djajic, accused of alleged war crimes committed in the former B-H, is aimed at imposing legal standpoints to further German national interests, adds "Konkret".

HAMBURG - The USA sharply condemned Croatia, because of violation of rights of Serbs and non-compliance to the Dayton agreement, especially its part concerning the cooperation with the Hague Tribunal, writes the German conservative daily "Die Welt". The US secretary of state Madlen Albright, sent criticisms to her Croat counterpart Mate Granic during their short meeting in Washington.

BEOGRAD - The Serbian Radical Party condemned "Albanian terrorist attack at Serb policemen in the vicinity of Srbac, in Kossovo and Metohija". The SRS demands an urgent investigation by the authorised state bodies and disclosure of its results, in order to finally cut the chain of crimes against Serbian people committed by the so-called "Liberation Army of Kossovo".
