BRCKO - The president of Republika Srpska (RS) and commander-in-chief of
its armed forces, Biljana Plavsic, warned today in Brcko that the
politicizing of the problem of Brcko represents a dangerous affair for the
entire international community. "Because of protection, the RS Army units
are ready for the defence, for the enemy wants to cut off the Serb body in
Brcko on its thinnest point, and without which we will not be able to
survive", stated president Plavsic following four hours of talks with
representatives of the authorities of Brcko and Posavina.
PRIJEDOR - A delegation of the RS government, led by RS premier Gojko
Klickovic, acquainted directors of the state and private enterprises and
representatives of the social and political structures of the Municipality
with the economic and political situation in RS. While visiting Prijedor on
the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Ljubija iron ore mine,
Klickovic informed representatives of the municipal authorities about
West's attempts at internationalising the problem of an arbitration over a
disputable part of the inter-entity boundary line in the area of Brcko.
BRCKO - While paying a visit to the 3rd Corps units in Brcko, the chief of
the General Staff of the Army of Republika Srpska (GS VRS), brigadier
general Pero Colic, warned that in the event a war fire ignites in the city
and the whole of Europe will burst into flames. "We have done complete
analyses and preparations as a response to all the possible options of the
Croat/Muslim Federation and the international community, warning them of
the consequences in the event that they insist on the destruction of RS",
pointed out general Colic.
PALE - RS vice-president Velibor Ostojic and the minister of higher
education and science, Stevan Stevic, talked in Pale with a representative
of the US "Peace Corps" organisation, Bruce Shlayn, about the programme of
education in RS. "The insight into the system of education in RS and the
informing of population about the life of civilians in America and vice-
versa will be included in the programme", stated minister Stevic after
the meeting.
ATHENS - The participation of Greece in a new multinational stabilisation
force (SFOR) in the Dayton B&H will be similar to the one it had in IFOR,
announced the Greek Ministry of Defence. Greece will include in SFOR the
same number of soldiers as it had in IFOR. As it is said, a contingent will
be formed mainly of special units for transportation.
SARAJEVO - NATO spokesman Brett Boudreau, stated in Serb Sarajevo that IFOR
has backed IPTF in the inspections of the police stations in RS and the
Federation of B&H during the last week. "Small amounts of arms were
confiscated from a Serb police station in Srbac and a Croat one in Busovaca,
while more than 100 of guns pieces, some hand bombs and about 250kg of
explosives were found and confiscated from a Muslim station in Petrovac",
stated Boudreau at a farewell press conference.
