BANJALUKA - The premier of Republika Srpska (RS) Gojko Klickovic, sent a
letter to the main arbitrator in the dispute over a part of inter-entity
boundary line in the area of Brcko, Robert Ovens, informing him that the RS
withdraws from the process of this arbitration. The prime minister
explained that Mr. Ovens, as a presiding arbitrator, blatantly breached
Arbitration rules from 1976 UNICTRAL and other rules agreed upon the
parties in this dispute, and endangered the confidence of RS Government in
the Tribunal's objectivity and its capability to bring a lawfounded
decision.
SARAJEVO - The Muslim government in Sarajevo will name the former prime
minister of the Federation, Haris Silajdzic, for one of co-presidents of
the newly-formed Council of Ministers of the Dayton B-H, reports the Muslim
press agency "Onasa". While referring to unnamed sources close to
Izetbegovic's cabinet, "Onasa" claims the foreign minister post, which
should belong to Croats, will be taken by Jadranko Prlic, while sector of
foreign trade and economic relations will be responsibility of the former
mayor of Eastern Mostar, Safet Ocurevic.
BONN - The German Socialdemocrats (SDP) will vote for the extension of the
German military engagement in the Dayton B-H under condition that the peace-
keeping forces are mandated to arrest war crimes suspects, reports the
German paper "Bild am Sontag". The leader of the SDP parliamentarian
faction, Peter Struk, says "continued participation of Bundesver in the
peace mission is purposeful and necessary".
MOSTAR - The Spanish IFOR Battalion Command in Medjuogrje, confirmed that
IPTF asked IFOR for help after a group of about 20 Croat civilians turned
the IPTF vehicle in western Mostar, on November 29, when the IPTF an IFOR
members seized pistol from a civilian who did not possess permission to
carry arms.
