NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - The vice-president of the Republika Srpska (RS) Dragoljub Mirjanic and chief of the RS Presidential Cabinet, Milos Prica, talked in Banjaluka with the delegation of the Association of Greek-Serbian Friendship "St. Sofia and St. Sava" from Patra, about the current political and economic situation in RS and prospects for the future cooperation between the two countries.

SARAJEVO - The RS minister for refugees and displaced persons, Ljubisa Vladusic, discussed dynamics of reconstruction of houses intended for refugees, with deputy chief of UNHCR Mission for the Dayton B-H, Katherine Waker, and director of the SRSA Project, Christen Helkant.

BANJALUKA - The RS finance minister, Novak Kondic opened the first fair of informatics, telecommunications and electronics "SITEL '96" in Banjaluka which will last until November 23. During the opening ceremony, minister Kondic stated that "RS wants to use its economic potentials to place itself at the market, but also to develop innovations and production of new technologies".

ZAGREB - With the presence of UN administrator for Eastern Slavonija, US general Jack Clain, several agreements between the Croatian Government and Serb representatives from Eastern Slavonija, Baranja and Western Srem, in Zagreb, were concluded. The agreements call for opening of 45 new centres for issuance of Croatian documents by December 1, as well as the economic reconstruction of the area.

MOSTAR - The largest portion of objections regarding the human rights violations in Croatia are coming from the occupied parts of the Republic of the Srpska Krajina (RSK), and concern the acquiring of citizenship, plunders and harassment. This was confirmed in Zagreb by UN rapporteur for human rights, Elizabeth Rehn, who explained that these are "new, concrete testimonies".

BEOGRAD - The Helsinki Board for Human Rights in Serbia expressed its concern over "adamant manipulations by current authorities and provocations threatening to cause disorder".

BONN - The Minister for refugees and displaced persons of the Federation of B-H, Nedzeim Recica, stated in Bonn that "his country wants its people back, because it needs them for the reconstruction process and the reintegration of the country". Recica stated this during the signing of the Agreement on Repatriation of over 300,000 refugees with representatives of the German government, which expressed hope the refugees would return willingly.

LJUBLJANA - About 10,000 refugees from the former B-H live in Slovenia, announced the Slovenian Direction for refuges, stating their number reduced this year to 5,000, thanks to the signing of the Dayton agreement which brought the stabiisation in the region.
