NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

SARAJEVO - The Provisional Electoral Commission rejected a demand from the Appellation Subcommission that the votes are counted anew. The Appellation Subcommission sent the demand after proceeding a number of complaints pertaining to deceits and errors in the determination of constituency figures and the results of elections.

BANJALUKA - The president of the Serbian Radical Party (SRS) for RS, Nikola Poplasen, sent a letter of and complaint to the OSCE Mission, protesting the way of determination and publishing of preliminary results of the elections in RS and the Croat- Muslim Federation. In a press release, the SRS for RS emphasises that this political party timely submitted a complaint to the Electoral Appellation Subcommission protesting the way of determination of results of the September elections, on the base of which the SRS for RS is denied a seat in the House of Representatives of the Dayton B-H.

BIJELJINA - The SRS RS spokesman, Stanko Babic, assessed in Bijeljina that the international elements and Yugoslav officials undertook all necessary steps so as to prevent the victory of patriotic forces at the September elections in RS.

HAMBURG - The German paper "Velt" reports from the NATO ministerial conference in Bergen of a warning by the top-levelled NATO officers that there was a latent danger of the renewal of clashes in RS and the Croat- Muslim Federation. NATO Europe commander, general George Joulwan, and the chairman of the Alliance's military Board, German officer Claus Neumen, consider that there is still existent a military tension and possibility that recent foes carry out a military mobilisation in a few weeks time.

STOCKHOLM - The issues discussed at the two-day meeting of defence ministers of NATO countries, in the Norwegian city of Bergen, were the future NATO presence in the Dayton B-H beyond their mandate, and the expansion of this military alliance. Swedish commentators conclude that NATO ministers reached a general agreement on the continuation of the presence of foreign troops in RS and the Federation of B-H, but in a reduced size. BIJELJINA - In the past two months, out of 11,931 in total living in collective centres, 2,736 of them moved out. Additional 16 centres were planned to be closed in the next 13 days, announced the Commissariat for Refugees and Humanitarian Aid.
