[01] SERBIA WILL NOT BE A TERRORIST TEST-GROUND
After the successful anti-terrorist operation carried out between January
22 and 29 in Kosovo and Metohija, Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic
received a delegation of the Ministry of Interior of Serbia. The police
operation resulted in the arrest of 66 members of terrorist organizations,
including a number of direct participants in terrorist attacks that
recently took place in Kosovo and Metohija, and in the seizure of major
quantities of weapons, explosives, equipment and documentation that clearly
reveal the terrorist activity and violence in the province of Kosovo and
Metohija. Congratulating the Serbian Ministry of Interior on their
successful operation, President Milosevic stressed that all those that
think that terrorist actions can be used to achieve their goals should
realize that our authorities will not allow Serbia to be turned into a test
ground for terrorism The people of Kosovo and Metohija - said Mr. Milosevic
- regardless of their ethnic origin, have the right to live in peace and
freedom and to settle all political issues with political means, publicly
and democratically, without fearing violence and pressures.

[02] BOSNIAN SERB POLICE STILL CAN'T GO INTO JUSICI
Bosnian Serb Police will make another attempt today to enter the Jusici - a
village in the vicinity of Zvornik - occupied last August by Moslem
refugees from Tuzla, even though the Dayton Agreement granted the locality
to the Republic of Srpska. Due to the protest of some 70 Moslem women, that
attacked Bosnian Serb policemen with clubs - in spite of the presence of
international forces - the attempt RS Police made on Saturday to enter the
village failed even though it had been previously agreed upon in detail.
Colonel Dragomir Vasic consented to the appeal of the international forces,
and postponed the operation for today. "International representatives
congratulated us on our dignified attitude and patience Saturday. The saw
what the Moslems did and then they made it clear to them that there will be
no more playing around. They have been told that they can stay if they
respect the laws and the authority of the Republic of Srpska or they can
return where they came from. We believe that - like in the village of
Mahale - we will assume the control of Jusici, and within a few days the
administration of the village of Dugo Djelo", said col. Vasic.

[03] OFFENSIVE STATEMENT BY THE CROATIAN MINISTER
The Leage of Anti-fascist Veterans of Croatia, addressed an open letter to
Croatian Prime Zlatko Mateca informing him that Deputy Premier and Cabinet
Member Jure Radic made a "scandalous statement" to the effect that "World
War Two was not a liberation war for the Croatian people" "Anti-fascist
veterans in Croatia strongly protest against this affront made through
arbitrary, untrue and unacceptable qualifications of WW II, " reads the
letter demanding that the Croatian Government should disassociate from the
statement made by Minister Radic. In a democratic country, such statements
would cause serious political repercussions for those that made them -
stresses the letter circulated by the Anti-fascist Veterans of Croatia.

[04] EXAMPLE OF PRIMITIVISM
CNN reporter Ralph Baglighter has been strongly criticized by the Zagreb
daily "Vjesnik" just because he dared ask Croatian President Tudjman
whether all Serbian refugees will be allowed to return to Croatia. The
"Vjesnik" article raises the question whether Americans would allow some
occupying force to seize their cities. The most highly circulated Croatian
daily also stresses that it is shameless for a foreign reporter to ask such
"indecent questions" and concludes that this is due to the illiteracy of
the American journalist. "Vjesnik" asks and immediately responds - one can
not compare the fact that US soldiers fought in the Pacific with the war
fought by Croatian soldiers to liberate it! Expanding the issue, the same
Croatian government-controlled daily gave large space to explanations about
the horrendous crimes committed by Serbs, without even hinting any Croatian
crimes. Observers in Zagreb believe that this ridiculous lesson is not
addressed to this particular reporter but primarily to America and its
demands for Croatia to take part in the Balkan integration.

[05] DISSATISFACTION IN VUKOVAR DUE TO THE SECURITY COUNCIL STANDS
The Executive Council of the region of Eastern Slavonija, Baranja and
Western Srem convened yesterday and adopted the decision to suspend its
work until the next session of the Regional Assembly. The rationale given
in the document released after the session indicates that this decision has
been prompted by the Presidential Statement of the UN Security Council,
that fully acknowledges the Croatian stands embodied by the Letter of
Intentions of the Croatian Government, these being well below the criteria
of the Erdut Agreement. "By fully acknowledging Croatian stands and
completely discarding Serbian positions, the Security Council annulled any
possibility of political actions of the regional Council", reads the
statement.
Regional President - Mr. Goran Hadzic stated that the Serbs expected the
Security Council to pass a clear resolution confirming its firm endorsement
of the Erdut Agreement. Instead of responding to the letter submitted by
the Serbian side, asking that the integrity of the Region be preserved and
the entire area demilitarized for a number of years, the Security Council
gave Croatia a mild warning to create the necessary conditions for
elections. "Unless we receive guarantees that the Region will remain
integrated, we shall not partake in the elections", said Mr. Hadzic.
According to the Croatian Letter of Intentions, the Region - inhabited by
140.000 Serbs and a minor number of Croats and Hungarians - is to be
divided into two counties. In fact, should in the elections Serbs triumph
in most of five municipalities, it is obvious that the division of the
Region and the merger of new counties with other municipalities in Croatia,
would "melt" the Serbian victory and the Serbs would thus become a minority
instead of being a majority as they are now. "If the Region were to remain
integral, this would not constitute a threat for the Croatian sovereignty,
and the Serbs would feel much safer in their centuries old homesteads",
said Mr. Hadzic.

[06] PUBLICATION ON SERBIAN-UKRAINIAN COOPERATION
In an attempt to meet the needs of all domestic businessmen that intend to
renew and expand their cooperation with foreign trade partners from former
Soviet Union, "Exportpress" - a Belgrade publisher - dedicated this year's
first issue of its specialized business magazine "Eksport Zurnal" to
Ukraine. The issue includes a review of 55 Serbian firms whose products the
Ukrainian market was always interested in. The list includes a number of
large and renowned socially owned companies -producing machinery, food
products, cigarettes, vehicles, tools, shoe-ware, chemicals and cosmetics,
but also small private firms that are yet to find access to the Ukrainian
market. The new "Eksport Zurnal", published in Ukrainian also offers
information on Serbian steel industry, river and air transport, Serbian
tourist facilities, energy sector, construction companies and the
activities of the Serbian- Ukrainian Society seated in Novi Sad.
