[04] ACCELERATED DEVELOPMENT OF SERBIA AFTER LIFTING OF SANCTIONS
Lifting of economic sanctions on Yugoslavia has a great
significance for our economy and for all citizens of our country.
It is a question of a first-rate political, economic, cultural and
I would say, civilizational act which is globally returning our
country to the international community - stated the Prime Minister
of the Republic of Serbia Mirko Marjanovic. "Now, when we are free
of great pressures, limitations and difficulties, in an environment
of durable peace and political stability, we must turn towards an
accelerated economic and social development of our Republic. We
have available great production and development potentials which
will make possible over the forthcoming years a fast economic
recovery and a significant growth of the standard of living of the
population", said Prime Minister Marjanovic. He also especially
emphasized that we have succeeded in the period of worst sanctions
of turning the negative trends in the economy into positive ones,
that the confidence has been returned into the local national
currency. Lifting of sanctions is the result of the consistent
policy of peace conducted by our country and of the strives for the
solution of political crisis in former Yugoslavia, said Marjanovic.

[05] AN ADEQUATE RESPONSE OF THE WORLD COMMUNITY
Lifting of sanctions on the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia is
an adequate response of the international community to the
contribution and strives of Belgrade in the peace process in
Bosnia, stated yesterday in Vienna Minister of Foreign Affairs of
Austria Wolfgang Chiesel. After the talks with the chief of the
German diplomacy Klaus Kinkel, he stated that "Austria and Germany
in spite of certain skeptical overtones, have greatly strived for
the lifting of sanctions, because all the conditions from the
Dayton Accords have been fulfilled". There is a great interest
among Austrian companies for considerable engagement in the area
of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, said Chiesel.
