[01] ACCELERATED NORMALIZATION OF THE RELATIONS BELGRADE-SKOPJE
President of the Republic Slobodan Milosevic received
yesterday delegation of the Socialist Party of Macedonia
headed by the Vice President of this party and Vice
President of the Parliament (Sobranje) of Macedonia
Blagoje Filipovski. In a cordial and friendly talks the
greatest attention was focused on the actual
developments and stabilization of the situation in the
Balkans and development of relations and cooperation
between Belgrade and Skopje. Mutual belief was expressed
that the accelerated normalization of the relations will
offer an important impetus to the overall consolidation
of the situation in the region and will contribute to
the elimination of the pending issued which are a burden
on the relations between the Balkan neighbors,
strengthening their mutual confidence and understanding
and opening realistic perspectives for their firm links.

[02] HIGH APPRECIATION OF MILOSEVIC
Deputy advisor of the Ukraine President for foreign
affairs, Victor Voronin, has conveyed during his meeting
with the delegation of the Socialist Party of Serbia
(SPS) a high appreciation which Leonid Kuchma has given
to the President of Serbia Slobodan Milosevic for his
contribution to the signing and implementation of the
Dayton Peace Agreement. Voronin during the talks with
the members of the Executive Committee of the SPS,
Vladimir Krsljanin and Ljubomir Ilkic, conveyed the view
of President Kuchma that the decisive role of the
President of Serbia in the realization of the peace
agreement has significance not only for the region of
the Balkans, but for the entire world. "Ukraine is
giving its firm support to the implementation of the
Dayton Peace Agreement and is principled in striving for
an urgent return of Yugoslavia to all the important
international organizations and fora", underlined

[03] REVIVAL OF ECONOMIC RELATIONS BETWEEN GREAT BRITAIN AND THE SR OF YUGOSLAVIA
Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Mirko
Marjanovic received the British delegation composed of a
number of distinguished members and headed by Mr.
Nicholas Bonsor, Minister in the Foreign Office. Guests
from Great Britain, representatives of fifteen leading
British companies, were interested in various forms of
economic cooperation with our country, for the
investments by British firms in the Federal Republic of
Yugoslavia and participation in the reconstruction of
our economy after suspension of the international
sanctions. They pointed out that the aim of their visit
is the revival of very good commercial ties which they
had before sanctions were introduced. Emphasizing that
our economy is linked with the world market and is open
for cooperation, Marjanovic informed the guests that our
economic capacities and equipment have been preserved
and that with an additional working capital production
can be revived very quickly. (Politika, February 20,

[04] OWNER OF BENETON VISITS GOVERNMENT OF SERBIA
Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Marjanovic, republican
ministers Srdjan Nikolic, Radoje Djukic and Dojcilo
Maslovaric and a group of our businessmen has received
yesterday Lucciano Beneton, owner and chairman of the
renown Italian and world company of the same name. He
presented an extensive business system and an original
business philosophy which could be over a short time
applied in our country as well. During the talks
readiness was expressed by the Government of the
Republic of Serbia to support by concrete measures for
the arrival of the outstanding world companies to our
market. It was underlined that the orientation on such a
cooperation includes the engagement of a large number of
local cooperants, in order to bring on our market highly
standardized quality of goods and services and help our
competitiveness at the international level. (Politika,

[05] IN KRASNOJARSK AGREEMENT SIGNED ON ECONOMIC COOPERATION
At the just adjourned economic exhibition "Serbia 96" in
Krasnojarsk, an agreement was signed on economic
cooperation between Serbia and this region in the
Siberian part of Russia. President of the Chamber of
Economy of Serbia Vlajko Stojiljkovic said that among
the businessmen of the Krasnojarsk region there is a
high interest in the joint production of pharmaceutical
products, baby foods and other consumption goods, and
that during the exhibition concrete agreements were
reached on cooperation between companies of the two
countries. The venture of our economy into the world
must be rational and well organized, so that with
proportionate funds the greatest possible targets will
be achieved, said Stojiljkovic, adding that the
exhibition in Krasnojarsk was organized on this basis.

[06] YUGOSLAV MANAGERS ON INTEGRATION OF OUR ECONOMY IN THE EUROPEAN TRENDS
Yugoslav Lobby of Managers, together with the lobbies
formed in all the leading European countries, has
already made a number of concrete moves for the return
of our economy to the world market. This is best
witnessed by the visits of the representatives of the
leading world companies and deals which have already
been contracted. At the yesterday's session of the
Conference of the Yugoslav Lobby of Managers, with the
topic "Integration of the Yugoslav Economy in the
European Economic Trends", President of the Yugoslav
Council for Management Development, Prof.Dr. Milija
Zecevic underlined that now the most important task is
to develop economic union of the Balkans. Lobby of
Managers in Hungary, Russia, Italy, Cyprus and Germany
have until now done a lot for our economy and its
affirmation in the world, said Zecevic, and the day is
not far when the Balkan countries will together, through
their economic union, enter the European Community. It
was announced at the Conference that Serbian Lobby will
be established in the United States in April, promotion
of the Lobby in Great Britain in May, formation of the
business center in Paris and participation of our
organization at the Conference of the European
Foundation for Management Development. (Vecernje

[07] SOON THE LAW ON OWNERSHIP TRANSFORMATION
In Serbia the Law will be passed very soon on the
transformation of ownership and the social program,
stated the Prime Minister of Serbia Mirko Marjanovic,
and announced that the social companies will be able to
transform themselves into mixed joint stock companies,
while the employed in them will have the option to buy
stocks. Marjanovic added that all types of companies
will be allowed "independently to assess and decide
whether to change the owner and put for sale their
stocks", underlining that it is very important for this
to be done in accordance with market conditions. It is
also important that there should be no coercion in this,
said the Prime Minister. Announcing the adoption of the
social program, Marjanovic said that without this
program it is not possible to maintain the market form

[08] BEST WISHES FOR RAMADAN BAYRAM FEAST
Dignitaries and faithful of the Islamic community in the
Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Serbia and Montenegro,
have received best wishes on the occasion of the Ramadan
Bayram feast by the Federal Minister and President of
the Commission of the Federal Government for Contacts
with the Religious Communities Dr. Zoran Bingulac,
Minister for Religion in the Government of the Republic
of Serbia Dragan Dragojlovic, M.A. and President of
Montenegro Momir Bulatovic. In the season's greetings it
is underlined that strives for peace, understanding and
tolerance, regardless of religion and nationality, are
the basis for a more prosperous, affluent and happier

[09] ROMAN COMMUNIQUE ON SARAJEVO
In the document on Sarajevo, which was adopted at the
yesterday's meeting of the Contact Group in Rome, it is
underlined that all nations and citizens of Sarajevo
will be offered the same possibilities, without
discrimination. Sarajevo will be a single city, reads
the communique, and expresses the belief that this will
offer better possibilities for all - both Muslim, Serbs
and Croats - and will be a significant contribution to
peace in entire Bosnia-Herzegovina. "This means that
Serbs will also have such opportunities fully to
participate in managing the city. Serbs in Sarajevo will
also be insured of participating in the local
self-management at the level of municipalities, in
accordance with Constitution of the Federation, which is
providing possibilities for their schooling, social
insurance, health care and an adequate use of Serbian
language and cyrillic alphabet", reads the communique.
It is especially underlined that Sarajevo both outside
and inside will be an open city. (Politika, February 20,

[10] MUSLIM POLICE UNDER INTERNATIONAL CONTROL
Police of the Muslim-Croat Federation will begin soon to
take over the duties in the Serbian part of Sarajevo, in
accordance with the Peace Agreement on Bosnia, stated
the police commissioner Peter Fitzgerald, who is heading
the international police forces, in charge of
supervision and control of local police. According to
the Dayton Agreement, local police forces under the
command of the international police, should be stationed
in five Serbian municipalities. Fitzgerald underlined
that his forces will guarantee the respect of the basic
human rights and that any arrest and search will be
monitored by 300 members of the international police

[11] BELGRADE DEFENSE ATTORNEY IN THE HAGUE
Belgrade defense attorney Toma Fila, who was appointed
by the Hague Tribunal as the defense attorney of the
detained Republic of Srpska Army General Djordje Djukic,
has visited his defendant in the investigation prison of
the Hague Tribunal and stated that Djukic is in a rather
poor health. Attorney Fila has lodged a protest with the
three investigation judges because of the manner in
which Serbian officers, arrested by the Muslim Army,
were taken over by the IFOR and transferred to the
Hague. Fila also pointed out that according to the
Anglo-Saxon law the procedure with the officers of the
Republic of Srpska Army, was first of all to be
presented with the indictment before the arrest but it
was not the case, and that they were not informed of
their rights. The indictments have not been raised even
until now and Fila refused to accept the documents given
for inview, demanding that the indictment be first of
all completed and submitted to the detained General
Djukic, as required by the procedure. Fila is hoping
that the same will be done by the defense attorney of
Colonel Krsmanovic, the Dutch defense attorney Jan
Sjekrun. (Politika ekspres, February 20, 1996)
[12] 'EVIDENCE' FIFTY YEARS OLD
A Serb from Pakrac, M.K. (70 years old) was sentenced to
14 years in prison in Slavonska Pozega, for the alleged
murder of a Croat, committed during World War Two.
Arrested in Pakrac on May 9, 1996 after the aggression
of the Croat Army on Western Slavonia, M.K. was
suspected of crimes in the latest war. Since there were
no proof for crimes during the time of existence of the
Republic of Serbia Krajina, the court in Pozega indicted
the accused of the crime committed at the time of the
Independent State of Croatia. The defendant M.K. was the
member of the partisan units, and the alleged victim was
the soldier of the Ustashi leader Ante Pavelic, which is
actually showing the true face of the Croat legal
