[01] Queen Margrethe the Second of Denmark in RomaniaHer Majesty the Queen of Denmark is in Romania for a state visit at the invitation of the President of Romania, Emil Constantinescu who received his guests as part of a ceremony at the Cotroceni palace yesterday. Talks took place between the two delegations while an accord on protecting the environment was signed by the two leaders. Denmark will give Romania some seven million EURO this year for the implementation of the most important chapters of the agreement. RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI also reports that the foreign minister of Denmark Niels Helveg Petersen met with the Romanian foreign minister Petre Roman and said, after the meeting, that Denmark supported the actions of Romania of adhering to the European Union as well as the policy of open doors of NATO. Cabinet Minister Petersen said that Denmark supported the taking over by Romania of the presidency of the OSCE in 2001. In his turn the Romanian foreign minister said he was encouraged by the support of Denmark in general and in particular by its support in as far as the free circulation of Romanian citizens in Europe is concerned. RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI also said that Denmark and Romania will cooperate within the United Nations in Southern Lebanon.[02] The President of Romania received a delegation of the West German BundestagMr. Emil Constantinescu received a delegation of the parliamentary group of friendship Romania - Germany led by MP Susanne Kastner. The President underlined during the talk the role of the Romanian Parliament and of the Parliaments in general in the process of enlarging the European Union. The President of Romania also underlined that the process of integration is a constant concern of the Isarescu cabinet and the entire work of the Cabinet ministers is aimed at economic growth which has already begun in Romania. The guest underlined that Romania is a factor of stability in the region and an important partner in the international arena, it is specified in a communique received by RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI from the Presidency of Romania.[03] Meeting of the Mixed Romania - European Union Parliamentary CommitteeSeat of the Romanian Parliament of Bucharest is hosting the session of the Mixed Romanian - European Union Parliamentary Committee. The Committee rallies European parliamentarians and members of the Committee of the Romanian Parliament dealing with Romania's integration in the European Union. A set of reccomendations is expected to be adopted by the end of the meeting reports RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI.[04] Visit to Bucharest of Mrs. Margaret Sullivan, specialist in public relations and communication management of the United StatesMr. Margaret Sullivan, specialist in public relations and management of communications in Washington D.C. is now in Bucharest for a visit with the specialists of the Home Ministry of Romania. This visit is part of the programme of Romanian - American cooperation in the domain of Public Relations, specifies RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI.[05] United States visit of the Romanian Prime Minister Mugur IsarescuDuring the first day of the United States visit of the Romanian Prime Minister Mugur Isarescu the Romanian PM met with US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and with the co-chairman of the Romanian - United States Committee of Action William Perry. Mrs. Albright assured the Romanian Prime Minister of the support of the United States for Romania's efforts in obtaining the chairmanship of OSCE next year. As part of the talks with Mr. Perry, the United States side advanced a calendar of concrete actions with a view to the NATO summit, reports RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI. The same radio station reports that the Chairman of the Federal Reserves of the United States Alan Greenspan received Prime Minister Mugur Isarescu for an exchange of ideas on the theme of monetary policies. The Romanian Prime Minister said during the talk that the Bucharest Cabinet had two major objectives and namely the unfolding of correct elections and the relaunching of economic activity which determines political and geopolitical stability. Secretary of the Treasury Lawrence Summers said in Washington on Tuesday that the accord of Romania with the International Monetary Fund was a very good action. Mr. Summers asked that the Romanian side should apply a sustained development and hence raise the level of the living standard of the population. In his turn Prime Minister Mugur Isarescu said the Bucharest cabinet would abide by the IMF obligations and continue positive development, reports RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI.[06] New tariffs for power and heatAt the beginning of June new tariffs are applied in Romania for power and heat. The KW will cost 749 lei to which 859 lei are added as subscription fee for the standard tariff, informs RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI.[07] CALENDARState visit of the Queen of Denmark to Romania continues. Her Majesty Queen Margrethe the Second of Denmark and His Royal Highness Prince Henrik have been visiting Romania for a day now. Today the Queen of Denmark meets with the Chairman of the Senate and with the Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies, Her Majesty also having in the programme visits to cultural and welfare establishments. In the evening there is an official dinner offered by the guests in honor of the hosts, the President of Romania and Mrs. Constantinescu.The President of Romania Emil Constantinescu is attending the opening of the exhibition LAYING OUT OF THE TERITORRY AND TOWN PLANNING, A ROMANIAN MUST FOR EUROPE. The exhibition is organized by the respective Ministry at the National History Museum of Romania in the city of Bucharest. President Emil Constantinescu is visiting the Book Fair which is hosted by the National Theater of the city of Bucharest. The delegation of the German - Romanian parliamentary group led by chairperson Susanne Kastner now on a visit to Romania leaves for Sibiu where they will meet with local officials and with the German ethnic minority representatives of that area. Delegates to the tenth meeting of the Mixed Parliamentary Committee Romania - European Union are in county Constanta where they will visit a children's hospital and an orphanage. Official visit to the United States of Prime Minister Mugur Isarescu today includes meetings and talks with US high officials and representatives of the world financial bodies stationed in the federal capital of the US. The Hilton Hotel of Bucharest hosts a Romanian - Danish business meeting occasioned by the visit to Bucharest of the Queen of Denmark.
